For Fall Break, we drove down to Eric and Heidi's property for a couple days of camping. It borders the east bench of Zion's. It is a long drive but always worth it once we finally make it. Their site is so pretty and they have put a lot of work into it to make it the most comfortable camp ground I've ever seen. We stayed close to the camp while there so this will be a mostly-pictures kind of post.
We left on Thursday morning. The kids had vouchers for free doughnuts to Lee's so we stopped there first.
Eric and Heidi had a load of gravel delivered Thursday morning so the big boys spent some time distributing it to all the different walkways.
The 4-wheelers are a new addition since the last time we visited. They were a favorite of adults and kids!

On Friday afternoon, we went on a little hike/walk. The look-out point at the end was impressive. Eric helped some of the kids build a cairn.

The nights were chilly-the coldest it's ever been since we've been going down there. The nights were about 28 and 35 degrees. We wore lots and lots of layers and stayed warm enough...the kids did any way. We sure appreciated the campfire in the evenings and mornings!

The boys made this structure in the sand. I love the creative, unstructured play that kids are able to have when out in nature.

I had just bought a new game called BOLD and took it down. It entertained the kids for a couple of hours!

On our way out, we stopped by Jolley's Ranch. There is an old legend about Mr. Jolley that makes my kids scared when it is told around the campfire at night. During the day it's not scary so we had to go check out the house that is still standing. We walked through it and the surrounding grounds. I like to walk through old houses and imagine actually living there and this one was especially fun because of the "ghost story" surrounding the Jolley family.
