Thanksgiving

It was a cabin Thanksgiving this year.  We headed up after Justin got off work on Wednesday night so we could be there to help with dinner prep in the morning.  Everyone was excited to be there, although we missed the Broadbent's this year.

The cabin kitchen is fairly small so it's always amazing that my mom is able to make such a fantastic meal and have everything ready all at once.  I've never had to make Thanksgiving dinner-it seems a daunting task to me!  She had plenty of helpers this year and it was every bit as delicious as it always is.
Erin M. and Brynn-my mom didn't have a big enough bowl to mix the stuffing so a cooler made do!

We ate around one and then had the afternoon to relax and eat pie.  Brynn got her middle tooth pulled right before we sat down to eat.  Tessa and Brynn did a lot of gymnastics together and made up some neat tricks.  We went on a walk on the golf course.  Erin W. had some fleece that she needed tied so we did some blankets.

At night my mom passed out new pajamas, books, and ornaments to all the grandkids and we decorated gingerbread houses.  Our kids can do this on their own now and that makes me extremely happy.  Stockton got Ralphie pajamas but had never seen the movie so most of the kids went down to the basement to watch "A Christmas Story" and he enjoyed his pajamas much more after watching that!

We got up on Friday, had breakfast, packed lunches, and went into the mountains to hunt for this year's Christmas tree.  We found a good one-and it was taller than it looked when it was out in the mountains!  We ate our packed lunches and played in the snow a little bit before heading back to the cabin, packing up, and heading home.

Being at the cabin is a magical way to kick of the Christmas season and we are so grateful that we were able to celebrate with family in that beautiful and relaxing setting.  We have so much to be thankful for.

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Christmas Advent 2012

Okay, here goes... Day 1: paint clay ornaments When we cut down trees this year there were a bunch of tops already cut down just lying on the ground so we took a couple home...one for Molly and Stockton's room and one for Brynn's room.  When the ornaments were dry I hung them on their little trees. Day 2: watch the Christmas Devotional (And eat Christmas corn!) Day 3: library story time Stockton was pretty nervous to see Santa but I think he was even more scared of not telling him what he wanted for Christmas.  He's smiling but it's a nervous smile!   Brynn had no reaction.   Day 4: Santa face craft   Day 5: Festival of Lights   Day 6: write letters to Santa Stockton: "Captain America" Molly: "an easy bake oven" & "a car for Molly"    Day 7: go shopping for cousin exchange and wrap presents Day 8: North Pole Express with Moyes family           ...
