Brynn's 6th Birthday

Brynn turned 6 on March 7, 2017.  It was a Tuesday but we were able to celebrate a few times throughout the week.  We started the previous Thursday when we went down to City Creek and met my mom for some birthday shopping.  Justin, Molly, and Stockton had left that morning for the soccer tournament in Mesquite.  I had planned on sending Brynn to school and then just picking her up when it was over and heading to Salt Lake but I felt bad about waking her up early and sending her all by herself so I let her skip the whole day.  We got there a little earlier than my mom and were able to spend some time walking around Temple Square.

When my mom got there we went to lunch first.  We like to eat at the bottom of the Brigham Young house-it is much better than the food court but a little quicker than a sit-down restaurant.  Plus it's really good, home-cooked food.
Ivy and I stayed with Brynn and grandma while she picked out all of her items.  We visited the Disney Store and then had one more stop to make...the jewelry store.  I had always told Brynn that she could get her ears pierced whenever she felt ready.  She always told me that she was not ready and that it was too scary but sometime in the couple of weeks before her birthday she decided that she was ready.  I continued to tell her that she could change her mind if she got scared but she insisted she was ready.  So we took her to Claire's and she did it.  She was so brave!  She didn't even shed a tear, although she was definitely nervous.  She was certainly proud of herself and she has loved having her ears pierced.

after-she picked little purple studs
We have mostly kept her studs in but have started swapping them out with some of Molly's earrings for short periods of time.

Our next celebration was on Sunday before her birthday when we drove to Sandy for dinner with Gene, April, and Brett.  Molly made her this crown with her 3D pen and glued it onto a hair clip.
This was a combined belated birthday for me and an early birthday for Brynn.  We had dinner and cheesecake and Brynn opened her presents.  She got a beanie boo, her 6-year-old figurine, and a fancy nightgown like Molly got for her birthday.  She was so delighted with everything and loves that she can match with her big sister.

(Just for the record, I got a tree for my house.  I wanted one.  Hope I can keep it alive!)

On Monday, we celebrated with my parents.  They came up to take us to dinner (as an early dinner for Justin- the three of us all have birthdays within three weeks so we encourage our parents to combine as much as possible).  We went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Park City.  They brought Brynn's presents...she got clothes, a Frozen swim bag, towel, and sunglasses, and a magnetic pet studio.
We went across the street for some frozen yogurt after dinner.  The owners are Korean and know Justin so they insisted on taking our picture.
On the actual day of her birthday, I was able to go to her class and read her favorite book and pass out treats.  She picked for me to read Princess in Black (just the first chapter) and had also picked out some mini cupcakes to share with her class.
The rest of the day looked about the same as any other day.  For our plan we decorated her birthday cake.  We had bacon with our dinner-that was her only food request.  Then we waited until Justin got home to do presents and cake.  Stockton and Molly helped Justin make the scavenger hunt.  Brynn got some treats (nerds, Twix, sour patch kids, mike and ikes), a Princess Elena movie, a weaving loom, and a hiking backpack.
We had cake after that.  Brynn requested a chocolate cake with pink and purple frosting.  I got the balloons at the dollar store as a bonus and she liked that.
It was not a year for Brynn to have a friend party so we went out two days later and did the family activity that she chose.  It was to go to the Kamas pool.  Everyone was on board with doing that!
Brynn was lucky to get five celebrations for her birthday.  She deserved every single bit of fun that we could give her.  She is such an awesome little girl and we love her so much!

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Stockton's 16th birthday

Stockton turned 16 on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. We've always told him he has the best day to have a birthday but I don't think he was convinced this year. He was anxious to turn 16 and get his license...it really felt like it took forever to get here. I told Justin that Stockton had to wait so much longer than Molly to get his license and he said, "actually, it took the exact same amount of time", which is factually true, it just felt a lot longer with Molly getting her license September of her sophomore year and Stockton not getting his until after sophomore year, before junior year. But, it did eventually arrive and we did our best to celebrate. We did the family celebration the Sunday before, since it was Girl's Camp that week and Justin, Molly, and Brynn would all be gone on his actual birthday. We had his requested dinner, meatballs, and he opened his presents. He got his favorite treats (nerd clusters, sour patch watermelon, and cow tails) and a new bat th...

all about Stockton

Stockton has loved having his license. He enjoys his independence immensely and does not take it for granted, probably because he had to wait for so long. He takes care of his truck, inside and out. He is always willing to run errands for me or take/pick up his sisters when I need him to. He tries to take back roads whenever he can-good thing you can get most anywhere in Heber on back roads.   This summer his love for cars has really amped up. He said he's always loved cars but he has just been noticing and talking about them more and more. He will point out a "cool car" whenever we are in the car and has a lot of knowledge about all the different features of the different cars. He has a dream car (can't remember which one) but also knows which color he would get in each of the different kinds of sports cars. He has slowly been buying sports car Lego sets with his birthday money, putting them together, and displaying them in his room. It's fun to see how excited h...
