Brynn (also, me) was very anxious to get back to cheer. She attends open gyms when she can but it's just not the same. She was excited for the first parent/athlete/coaches meeting so she could see who else made the team and hear how the season is going to go. We left feeling very optimistic and excited for the season to start! It's going to be so cool for my kids to be part of the first year of a brand-new school!

I like to get my piano recital done early and then have more flexibility for the last half of April and all of May. I gave my students one week after Spring Break to practice and have a final lesson and then it was recital time. They all picked their recital songs back in December so they were ready. As always, they each perfrom a memorization piece, a duet with me, and a fun song that they learned over the past year. It's so fun for me to watch them!  |

Back-to-back recitals that week: Ivy had her clogging recital the next night. She performed a jazz dance and a clogging dance. Clogging is her favorite but they were required this year to take one other class and she picked jazz, since that's what Ali was doing and because it was right after her clogging class which made everything easier. Justin leaned over to me during her clogging dance and said "Why is she always in the front?" and I said it's because she knows all the steps. And it's true. She is getting really good!

We did something crazy...one night, after Brynn and Ivy had gone to bed and I was sitting up with Stockton who was working on some homework, my sister, Erin, called. It was late so I immediately thought something was wrong. Nothing was wrong but she had a proposition. She had a dog from one of her last-summer litters that was needing to be re-homed. They had dropped it off at Erin's house earlier that day. She was going to post it on KSL but called me first. Since Cash died, I have been pretty adamant about not getting a dog, despite begging and pleading from all the kids. Just thinking about training another puppy put me over the edge - not to mention that puppies these days are expensive! Well, Erin had solved both of those issues for me: the dog they had was already house-trained and completely free! She was a good salesperson. Justin liked the fact that the dog was hypo-allergenic and would not shed. We told Erin not to post her and to give us a day to think about it, but really we had both decided already to take the dog, not for us, but for the kids. (Justin never had a dog growing up and always thought he had missed out.) Harper brought the dog, who is named Pearl, up to Heber with my parents the next time they came for a baseball game. We surprised the girls...Brynn at the game, Ivy after clogging, and Molly via FaceTime later that night...and they all cried. Stockton already knew about Pearl since he heard the entire phone call with Erin. We decided to keep the name Pearl. Pearl is very timid and sweet and has been an angel. The girls, especially, are in doggie-heaven.
Prom 2026! Stockton was taking Bryn Danley and Kelton Webb and Draven Logan were in his group as well. They did their day date at the aquarium in Sandy. Kelton's sister-in-law took pictures at the Midway Pond. Stockton opted out of doing Junior Promenade-I was a little bummed but understood his reasoning, since Bryn is only a sophomore, he would have had to find another junior to promenade with. I hosted dinner at our house and we had fettuccine alfredo, blackened chicken, homemade breadsticks, bubbly, Kelton provided caesar salad, and Draven made Oreo macarons. They were a fun group and the girls all looked beautiful! I snapped a picture of Stockton and Bryn before they left.  |

I took this picture after one of Stockton's game where he was able to pitch the last two innings. He saw 6 batters with 25 pitches. They should have gotten out of the last inning quicker but there were two errors by some other guys in the field. Stockton got a line drive back to him on the pitcher's mound for a throw out at first to end the inning. But we went into the bottom of the 7th down by one run and needed a couple runs to win the game. We got a couple base hits and tied up the score and then Tyson hit a walk-off home run to win the game. It was all very exciting!

My parents are so nice to come up and watch Stockton. It's been a rough year, Stockton is counting down the days until it's over, and we never know if he is going to get any playing time (which is, quite frankly, ridiculous) but they keep coming. They were happy to see him pitch this time!
The Relief Society hosted a tea party for all activity day girls, young women, and RS sisters. It was held at Lynne McLean's house-she has collected tea sets from all over and had one set out at each place setting. There were also hats you could decorate if you wanted and we made cookie dough balls for the children's justice center. I took Brynn and Ivy and had a great time!

Ivy made bracelets for all the girls in her clogging class for their last class of the year. They are green, black, and white to match their clogging outfits, with the initials "RTS", which stand for "Rock That Stage", something one of the coaches always tells them before they perform.
It's not often that all kids are home in the afternoon, but Stockton's game for that day was cancelled because of rain, which also meant practice was cut short. So all three were just home with nothing to do! I looked over at them, and they were all matching, haha! It was so funny.
Wasatch High School cheer banquet. Brynn got her sash which said "Tiny But Mighty"...big surprise there! It was a fun night celebrating the girls and all they accomplished this past year. One coach called them the "Mighty Ducks cheer team" which is an apt description. They were definitely underdogs, with everything that was thrown at them last fall, but they conquered. The coach also spoke to how the girls exceeded every expectation...being ready to compete, qualifying for state, placing in state. It was an ending in more ways than one...saying good-bye to graduating seniors, saying goodbye to Wasatch as the only high school in the valley, saying goodbye to Wasatch in general for Brynn. So grateful for the experiences she had this past year...and looking forward to so many more awesome cheer memories! |

I finished reading the book "Lucky in Love" to Brynn-a cute, clean, high school rom-com. She enjoyed it!
Ivy's "Here Comes the Sun" drawing. We were all anxious for sun and summer at this point!
