Stockton's 15th birthday

Stockton turned 15 on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.  Our favorite boy!

He wanted rice pudding for breakfast which still seems very little boy-ish.  He had baseball practice that morning and I had my piano lessons most all morning.

For lunch he wanted steak which seems very not little boy-ish.  I bought him tri-tip and slow-grilled it with a garlicky butter glaze thing.  Steak is a little out of my comfort zone (I don't buy it much unless it's going in tacos or a salad or something) but he liked it so I guess I did okay.  He also had caesar salad and I snapped a picture as I was running out the door to get Brynn from cheer.

When Justin got home (slightly early so we could do presents before the party) we did presents.  No scavenger hunt=big boy-ish.  He got his three requested treats (cow tails, nerd clusters, mamba sticks), a new Braves hat, and a batting turf.  Someday he might not get baseball-related gifts but for now, it's still what he wants.  He tried out the turf and then we set it up on the north side of the house where it can stay put and not kill grass and it's a great place for him to do his batting practice.

Gene and Brett came up that afternoon to give gifts and visit.  April was in Georgia helping with new baby Avery.  They gave him slides, and a training bat.

Stockton was in charge of planning his birthday "hang-out".  He did a decent job and it was a really fun night.  First of all, he wanted to do pizzas in the pizza oven.  So I had all the stuff for them to make their own and Justin was the pizza chef.  They are so yummy!

Kelton brought gaga ball, per request, so that was fun for a minute.

They swam twice-once right after dinner when it was still light outside and again when it got dark.  By that time, everyone had arrived (we had some late arrivals due to some conflicts).

Stockton had set the projector up and hung the screen between the two big trees.  The idea was to watch a movie while they were swimming.  They altered plans a little and played the movie while they played night games.  I don't think much of the movie was actually watched but it went just how Stockton wanted and it was a perfect night to celebrate him.

My parents came up that weekend to watch Stockton play in a couple of baseball games.  They took us to lunch and then came back to our house to give him his presents.  They gave him a new pair of sunglasses for when he's out on the field and a framed collage from when the Braves won the World Series in Nov. 2021 which he promptly hung in his very cool baseball room.
He wanted to save birthday cake for when grandparents were there so we sang to him and did cake that afternoon.  He picked chocolate bundt cake, my favorite!
Happy Birthday Stockton!

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Christmas Advent 2012

Okay, here goes... Day 1: paint clay ornaments When we cut down trees this year there were a bunch of tops already cut down just lying on the ground so we took a couple home...one for Molly and Stockton's room and one for Brynn's room.  When the ornaments were dry I hung them on their little trees. Day 2: watch the Christmas Devotional (And eat Christmas corn!) Day 3: library story time Stockton was pretty nervous to see Santa but I think he was even more scared of not telling him what he wanted for Christmas.  He's smiling but it's a nervous smile!   Brynn had no reaction.   Day 4: Santa face craft   Day 5: Festival of Lights   Day 6: write letters to Santa Stockton: "Captain America" Molly: "an easy bake oven" & "a car for Molly"    Day 7: go shopping for cousin exchange and wrap presents Day 8: North Pole Express with Moyes family           ...
