Stockton's #1 passion is still baseball. He played on the freshman team all spring and then was asked to play on a team for this summer. They have practiced a couple of times each week and have played in three tournaments, with one more over Labor Day. I'm glad he can still be working on his skills and it gets him out of the house and active. He likes to play 2nd base the most but can also play outfield and he goes in as relief pitcher and has done really well with that. He is a smart player and always know where the ball needs to be played. He watches a lot of baseball tips and videos and has an extensive knowledge of MLB as well. The high school just hired a new coach and so that has recently started up as well.
Stockton just got released from being the teacher's quorum president and got put in as the secretary. I think he's been something in the teacher's quorum the entire time he's been a teacher...it is a small group. He'll be a priest in January and get to be with Justin, which will be awesome.
Stockton hangs out primarily with either "the gang" (always Kelton with a combination of Khloie, Grahm, Hallie, Brynn, and Jacob thrown in there as well) or he'll hang out with Drayven and Payton.
Stockton is really good at teasing Ivy, especially when he is a little bored. He has nicknamed Ivy "Biscuit" and calls her that constantly. Ivy handles it good sometimes and not-so-good other times, usually depending on her level of tiredness.
Stockton's new-found hobby this summer has been fishing. Kelton gave him a fishing pole for his birthday and they have gone a few times to the Midway pond at Wasatch State Park. He's spent a lot of time organizing his tackle box and has used some of his own money to purchase lures and other fishing items.
I'm relieved that Stockton figured out his hair situation. Last summer was painful, haha. He found a legit barber that he likes to go to. I was skeptical because it's a little more expensive than a Sports Clips but this guy is really thorough and does it just how Stockton likes it. So I guess it's worth it. Stockton has a lot of hair and it grows out really fast and we stretch it between each cut. It's always so nice when it gets cleaned up.
Stockton got his learner's permit a few weeks after his birthday. So I have been driving with him these last couple of weeks. I will admit, this is not one of my favorite parenting responsibilities. But he's doing fine and he has a full 11 months to learn how to drive. I am always pretty glad that we live in Heber-no freeways or anything to deal with. He'll eventually get to canyons and freeways but we'll take it slow.
Stockton doesn't have a job but he's been able to pick up some work this summer. He has been mowing a couple of lawns each week. He took care of a friend's dogs and chickens. And he did some roof repairs for a neighbor. So he is making some money for himself. I'd like him to get a job this fall but we'll see how motivated he is and how important it really is for him to have some spending money.
Stockton got a hold of my phone a while ago and, unbeknownst to me, went into his profile and changed the name to "Favorite Child". I got a good laugh the next time he called me and that name popped up. I didn't have the heart to completely change the name but I did alter it a little so that now it says "Favorite Son" when he calls.
