Brynn's number one is obviously cheer. I've said enough about the subject over the last few years so I don't need to go on and on about how much she loves it...she just does. A few weeks ago when I picked her up from school to take to cheer, I could tell she hadn't had a great day. And she hadn't-she was down in the dumps, which is actually quite rare for her. When I got her after cheer, she was a different girl and said, "Mom, no matter how my day has gone, cheer just always makes be feel better and puts me in a good mood." And I'm so happy about that.
Brynn does have a future in cheer but it's really up to her to decide what that looks like. I would be okay with her leaving her current gym this next year so she has a chance to compete at a higher level. She loves her gym and her coaches and her friends so this is a hard decision. She also thinks she wants to do high school cheer but high school cheer and all-star cheer are not equal. They do not do the tumbling and the stunting like Brynn is used to and I would hate to see her lose those skills. But I do understand wanting to be involved with the high school at that level. If she went that route, she would need to keep up her other skills in another way, most likely private lessons. So. A lot of decisions but the most important is for her to continue to do what her passion is, work hard and improve, and hopefully just have some really great experiences along the way!
Brynn's new love (if you couldn't tell from all her birthday gifts) is skincare and makeup. Her friend, Oakley, seems to have taught her everything. I took the kids shopping over Spring Break and Brynn was most excited to go to Sephora and use her gift card.
Brynn is at that age where she is all about her friends. She still has her old friends from elementary but she doesn't hang out with them too much anymore. She has cheer friends-mostly Oakley and Shaylee and sometimes Dani-and she hangs out with "the gang" a lot as well-Stockton, Khloie, Grahm, Kelton, Hallie, Jacob, sometimes Avery and Bree who are all from our ward.
Brynn officially "hates" to read. Fortunately, she still likes audiobooks and listens every night when she's going to bed. I'll take what I can get!
Brynn has been meticulous about keeping her room clean and organized since we did her room clean-out over Christmas break. I have never seen her be like this-and it has lasted 3.5 months. She has told me several times how she loves to go into her room when it's clean. I wish the other kids would catch the same bug!
Brynn likes to know what's going on at all times...she always wants to know the plan and she will ask several times to make sure she's got it right. She hates being late to anything.
Brynn still packs a lunch every day for school. I think she doesn't like to wait in line in the school cafeteria for food that she doesn't really like. I make her pack her lunch the night before.
Brynn loves kids and has been able to baby-sit for a family with 4 kids a few times. I was a little worried the first time-4 is a big step from just Ivy-but she went in with all the confidence in the world and did-and has done-great.
Brynn's favorite classes at school are CCA (like home ec) and yoga. Her least favorite classes are Math, English, and Science. She goes to school to see her friends. She is not a fan of actual school and schoolwork. It's hard to believe she will finish this year up soon and then only have one more year of middle school before moving on to the big high school.
Brynn is currently serving as the second counselor in her Young Women's class.
