Halloween weekend

Halloween weekend started Friday.  Molly and Stockton made an attempt to dress up but I wasn't expecting anything from them so this was better than nothing.

Brynn and Ivy, on the other hand, were super excited and couldn't wait for their day.  We had Alice in Wonderland and the cutest little witch I've ever seen.

I had preschool that morning so I wasn't able to make it to the parade.  A friend did take this picture of Brynn and Mari Freeman and sent it to me.  Alice and the White Rabbit.  This was planned.  Mari's mom definitely goes all out on costumes.  Brynn is a whole head shorter than Mari.

I might have missed the parade but I did get to help with Ivy's class party that afternoon.  We played roll a pumpkin and then I was able to take Brynn and Ivy home instead of putting them on the bus.

We drove up to Plain City when everyone was home.  Justin was still in DC so it was just the kids and me.  Molly and Stockton had done a costume change and we ended up with...two characters from The Sandlot, Alice in Wonderland, and still the cutest little witch.  Also, I was a black cat-that's as good as it gets from me.

Everyone else had gotten a head start on their pumpkins so my kids were able to jump right in.  They wanted to do them on their own and that was fine with me!

Ivy couldn't decide between painting or carving...so her pumpkin got both!

My mom had a great game planned.  She had given all the adults a character with a role to play then she paired the kids into groups of two and they had to solve the mystery.  It was basically a live Clue game.  The kids had to walk around to the different rooms where the adults were stationed and make a guess...a person, room, weapon.  They figured out the answer by elimination.  It was really fun!

We headed home after the game where Justin was waiting for us.  His flight had landed earlier that evening...we were so excited to see him and hear all of his cool stories!  That was a long time for him to be gone-luckily it was a busy week and went by quick.

Saturday was the 30th but trick-or-treat day.  Molly was having a party in our yard so we spent most of the day cleaning the house and yard to get ready for that.  Ivy learned how to drive the mower so she could sweep some of the leaves.  She was actually pretty good, if we kept the speed at the lowest setting.

Molly had her last soccer game that weekend.
I don't know many of these girls.  Coach DJ on the left, Molly third in from him

Then it was time for trick or treating.  Halloween is definitely a friend holiday and we were split up all over the place.

at least I got everyone on the porch for a picture before going in all directions!
Molly had her party in our yard.  I ordered pizza, made sugar cookies and hot chocolate, and bought Halloween candy.  We had a bonfire to keep everyone warm and a projector set up to watch a movie when it got dark enough.  Molly was nervous because she wanted her first high school party to be a success, but she had nothing to worry about.  It was a total success.  There were about 30-35 kids there and they all seemed to have a good time.  The weather was perfect-not too cold.  They watched Wait until Dark and played Mafia on the tramp, amongst other things.  I mostly stayed out of the way but was so happy for Molly to have it go so well.

Stockton went trick-or-treating with Kelton, as he has done the last two years.

This was Brynn's first year not with the family.  She met some friends and went trick-or-treating with them.  They even found some boys from school and went with them for a little bit.  When they were done, they went back to Ellie's house and sorted and traded their treats.

That left Ivy to go with Justin and I.  By the time we got the projector set up, it was about 6:30.  Not super late for trick or treating but the neighborhood in our ward where we always go was nearly empty.  But Ivy had a good time and got lots of candy.  Everyone sorted when they got home.  I usually make them keep their candy in a bin in the kitchen so I can monitor their intake but they convinced me to let them keep it in their rooms.  I just made one rule-the same rule I had growing up: if I found candy wrappers not in the trash, everyone had to give me a piece of candy from their stash.  My mom was so smart when she made that rule!

The 31st fell on Sunday and it happened to be our Primary Program.  So glad they got to have one this year.  Brynn and Ivy did great with writing their own parts, memorizing them, and saying them at the pulpit.  We ended the night piled in our bed upstairs cheering on the Braves.  It was game 6 of the World Series and we were hoping for a win but they came up short that night (just to win it all two days later).  Happy Halloween 2021!

Yes, Brynn still fits in her baptism dress...2.5 years later!

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Stockton's 16th birthday

Stockton turned 16 on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. We've always told him he has the best day to have a birthday but I don't think he was convinced this year. He was anxious to turn 16 and get his license...it really felt like it took forever to get here. I told Justin that Stockton had to wait so much longer than Molly to get his license and he said, "actually, it took the exact same amount of time", which is factually true, it just felt a lot longer with Molly getting her license September of her sophomore year and Stockton not getting his until after sophomore year, before junior year. But, it did eventually arrive and we did our best to celebrate. We did the family celebration the Sunday before, since it was Girl's Camp that week and Justin, Molly, and Brynn would all be gone on his actual birthday. We had his requested dinner, meatballs, and he opened his presents. He got his favorite treats (nerd clusters, sour patch watermelon, and cow tails) and a new bat th...

all about Stockton

Stockton has loved having his license. He enjoys his independence immensely and does not take it for granted, probably because he had to wait for so long. He takes care of his truck, inside and out. He is always willing to run errands for me or take/pick up his sisters when I need him to. He tries to take back roads whenever he can-good thing you can get most anywhere in Heber on back roads.   This summer his love for cars has really amped up. He said he's always loved cars but he has just been noticing and talking about them more and more. He will point out a "cool car" whenever we are in the car and has a lot of knowledge about all the different features of the different cars. He has a dream car (can't remember which one) but also knows which color he would get in each of the different kinds of sports cars. He has slowly been buying sports car Lego sets with his birthday money, putting them together, and displaying them in his room. It's fun to see how excited h...
