Halloween 2015

Molly was a painter/artist.  She painted an old pair of jeans and found a T-shirt and white jean jacket from her closet, Justin made a painter's palette out of a cardboard box, and we bought the beret on Amazon.

Stockton was a baseball player.  Lucky for him, Justin had bought this Braves jersey way back in the summer on a clearance sale.  We had planned on giving it to him for Christmas but when he said he wanted to be a baseball player for Halloween, we decided to just give it to him early.  We bought some baseball pants and a belt and he already had the hat and glove.

Brynn was Tinkerbell.  We just bought her costume from Walmart.

Ivy was a chicken.  Molly and Stockton have both worn this costume.

We went to Plain City for the Moyes party.

My mom had a bunch of fun games planned and the weather was nice enough that we could be outside for the afternoon.

The mummy game resulted in toilet paper all over the yard.  That turned into a toilet paper fight with the kids.

We decorated pumpkins.

Ivy found the tablecloth and thought that was a fun thing to play with.

My kids were super excited when Grandma told them it was our family's turn to set up and run the spook alley this year.  It's been a fixture at the party for a few years.  We went a little early and got everything ready.

When it got nice and dark we had all the others walk through, one family at a time.  They were greeted by Brynn and given a glow stick, they met a witch (Molly) and touched some of her potion ingredients, then had to walk past a dead man in a coffin (Stockton) to exit.  It's just the right amount of scary for the kids and they always have a lot of fun running through it a few times.

The kids dressed up for school on the 29th.

We carved pumpkins on Halloween morning (a Saturday).  Molly and Brynn both wanted kitties.  Molly drew hers free hand.  I found a template online for Brynn's.

Stockton wanted a Jazz logo.

Ivy was asleep the whole time but Molly traced her name on a pumpkin for Justin to carve.

It was a nice day outside so the kids spent more time playing in all those leaves in the afternoon.  They made houses and roads.

Trick-or-treating!

We went to a subdivision here in Heber with lots of larger homes since there isn't much on our street. (I bought a bag of candy and left it on our porch just in case but no one came.  The neighbors say they've never had any trick-or-treaters.)

Ivy update, 1/12/16:
Isn't a walker yet, but is gaining a lot more confidence each day.  She cruises around furniture and if something is just a few steps away, she will balance herself and walk the couple of steps with no problem.  She will sit down and crawl if she thinks it's too far.

Has started to mimic a lot more.  She will give a fist bump, fold her arms, shake and nod her head, wave, and blow kisses (put her hand to her mouth).  She also tries to mimic sounds. 

When you say "no, no" she will shake her head.

Loves to go in and out of the door to her playhouse.

Has started to sleep all night, although her mornings are earlier than I'd like.  She used to wake up once and then sleep until 7:30 or 8.  Now she is just waking up around 6:30-7 which makes school mornings a little trickier.

I've started weaning her (sad, but it's time).  I nurse her morning and afternoon and fill in with bottles.  She has tried cows milk and seemed to like it in a bottle but for now I am just using up the last of the small jar of formula that I have.

Takes two naps each day.  I don't think this will change for a while although I wish her naps were longer-they still seem shorter than what my other kids were doing at this age.

We have entered into the stage where she is getting into everything...the tupperware cupboard, the cupboard where the garbage is kept, the drawer where the kid's dishes are kept (she actually likes to climb in and sit in the drawer).  I can't fold clothes when she's around because she undoes all my folding.  She pulls towels off their racks if she can reach them.  And the bathroom door has to always be closed or she is in unrolling the toilet paper or going through the garbage.
