Molly's 9th birthday

Our sweet Molly-girl turned 9 on September 15, 2015.  It was her year for a friend party.  She wanted a baking party. We had her party on the Saturday before her birthday, September 12th.  Grandma and Grandpa Moyes came a couple hours early to watch her soccer game and so she was able to open their presents first, before the party started.  She got clothes and shoes (she picked them all out when she went shopping with grandma the week before), a sign for her room that says "I read past my bedtime," a minky blanket (all the grandkids have got one this year), a password keepsake box, and a canopy for over her bed.
Then it was time for the party.  Everyone she invited was able to come.  Our first activity was to decorate aprons.  They just used fabric markers and seemed to have fun doing that.
Back row: Haylee Allen, Sloane Ellingford, Samantha Steiner, Brooklyn Koberlein, Brynn, Tayvree Titus, Stockton. Front row: Abby Moyes, Molly, Chloe Walker
Then we had pizza.  Because of her soccer game we had to do the party during dinner time.  We had Papa Murphy's take-and-bakes with apples and water.  I kept it super simple.
After dinner Molly opened the presents from her friends.  She got a lot of fun things, perfect for a 9-year-old girl.  A beanie boo, candy, fingernail polish, a notebook she could decorate with stickers and just a regular notebook, a cupcake decorating magazine with some decorating tips and cute cupcake liners, a scarf, a necklace, perfume, a password journal, a water bottle, and some headbands.
After presents we had cupcakes. Molly's request was chocolate cupcakes with white frosting.  I also found some pearly blue sixlets and yellow sprinkles to top them off.
The last activity I had planned was the cake decorating.  I made 5-inch red velvet cakes (Molly's flavor request) and just buttercream frosting in various colors.  Each girl also got a small cup of M&M's and Skittles for decorating.  It was a fun, exciting mess!
That was all I had planned but I wasn't worried about running out of time because I knew we could send them outside to play in the yard.  We had a little extra time before parents started picking up the girls so they played tag, played on the zipline, and jumped on the tramp.  They had so much fun doing that, we could have extended the party for an extra 30 minutes.

Molly had a great time at her party.  I am glad that she has been able to find so many friends up here.

Her actual birthday was the following Tuesday.  She went to school.
Justin got home early so she didn't have to wait too long after school to open her presents.  Since Justin had put together a scavenger hunt for Stockton's birthday, she was expecting the same.  So he delivered and she went all around our house searching for her birthday gifts.  She got a beanie boo, a few of her favorite treats (salt water taffy, gum, Sixlets, Now and Laters), cute boots, and a bulletin board for her room.  We got creative with the last gift and repurposed an old three-frame picture frame that we had hanging in our house in Spanish Fork.  It used to be maroon and had a picture of each of the kids in it but our family has outgrown it since Ivy was born.  We didn't throw it away because we figured we could do something with it.  Justin painted it turquoise and we added a magnetic chalkboard in the middle and cork boards on each end.  We also gave her some chalk, some magnets and some colorful tacks. I think it turned out super cute!
After her requested dinner of steak and mashed potatoes, Grandma and Grandpa Goodrich and Brett came up to give her a few more presents.  They gave her her 9-year-old figurine and some more intricate coloring books and colored pencils.
For dessert, Molly had requested FatBoys so we had those and that was the end of celebrating.

Molly is a great girl.  We are so happy to have her in our family and are excited to continue to watch her mature into a beautiful young woman.  We love our 9-year-old girl!

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Stockton's 16th birthday

Stockton turned 16 on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. We've always told him he has the best day to have a birthday but I don't think he was convinced this year. He was anxious to turn 16 and get his license...it really felt like it took forever to get here. I told Justin that Stockton had to wait so much longer than Molly to get his license and he said, "actually, it took the exact same amount of time", which is factually true, it just felt a lot longer with Molly getting her license September of her sophomore year and Stockton not getting his until after sophomore year, before junior year. But, it did eventually arrive and we did our best to celebrate. We did the family celebration the Sunday before, since it was Girl's Camp that week and Justin, Molly, and Brynn would all be gone on his actual birthday. We had his requested dinner, meatballs, and he opened his presents. He got his favorite treats (nerd clusters, sour patch watermelon, and cow tails) and a new bat th...

all about Stockton

Stockton has loved having his license. He enjoys his independence immensely and does not take it for granted, probably because he had to wait for so long. He takes care of his truck, inside and out. He is always willing to run errands for me or take/pick up his sisters when I need him to. He tries to take back roads whenever he can-good thing you can get most anywhere in Heber on back roads.   This summer his love for cars has really amped up. He said he's always loved cars but he has just been noticing and talking about them more and more. He will point out a "cool car" whenever we are in the car and has a lot of knowledge about all the different features of the different cars. He has a dream car (can't remember which one) but also knows which color he would get in each of the different kinds of sports cars. He has slowly been buying sports car Lego sets with his birthday money, putting them together, and displaying them in his room. It's fun to see how excited h...
