Christmas and the day after

Molly was the first one to wake up this year...not too early. Probably sometime around 7:30.  She had a hard time waiting for Stockton and Brynn to wake up.  They both needed a little bit of help waking up.  It was probably 30-40 minutes after Molly woke up when we took our top-of-the-stairs picture.
Molly and Stockton were super excited to run downstairs but Brynn was really nervous.  We told her that Santa had come but she didn't realize that he had come and left...she thought he was still there and didn't want to go downstairs.  I carried her down, but she covered her eyes the whole way down.  She took a little peek to reassure herself that he truly wasn't there and then she was able to get into the celebration a little more!

Looking back I am a little embarrassed with how spoiled the kids were this year!  I guess it was hard not to get them everything!  We'll have to cut back next year but we just enjoyed the day and the excitement the kids had over everything little thing.

Molly hadn't asked for anything so she didn't know what to expect.  She got a giant stuffed panda (which she named Clover) and a pogo stick.
Stockton got the requested Hulk muscles and some dress-ups.
Brynn got her Sofia doll (just a small plush one) and an Aquadoodle.
They usually get the same sort of thing in their stockings...a movie, a toothbrush, bubble bath, some treats, a new ornament.  And usually a little surprise trinket of some sort.

We took a break for a nice breakfast and then went back for more.  They each had two presents under the tree, one from mom and dad, and one from their siblings.

Molly got a bow and arrow from Stocky and Brynn and a Spirograph from us.
Stockton got a starter set of Legos from Molly and Brynn and some superhero figurines and cars from us.
Brynn got wooden blocks from Molly and Stocky and a Minnie Mouse dress-up from us.
When all the opening was done we tried to clean up a little bit, got dressed and ready, and explored all the new toys for a while.  Since we had been to Justin's house a few days before and my house the night before, we decided to just stay home for the day.  This was the first time in my whole life that I hadn't gone to anyone's house on Christmas Day!  Fortunately, Gene, April, and Brett brought some dinner down to us and kept us company and we enjoyed having them.

We couldn't really get down to the business of eating until they showered our kids with more presents.  Molly got the Ever After High book and a music maker.
Stockton got a cars sticker book, a cars search-and-find book and a glow-in-the-dark race track.
Brynn got a set of read-to-me princess books and a Minnie Mouse dress-up set.
They stayed for a few hours and then it was to bed.  We had time to play our new game a few times...Sequence for Kids.

My mom and dad came down the next day along with Erin (Moyes) and her 4 kids.  It's always fun to have grandma and grandpa come, but even more exciting to have cousins visit!

We'll just get straight to the presents.  It's not the most important part of Christmas, but something to look back and remember.  Molly got clothes, a Rainbow Loom, and the Emily American Girl Doll.
Emily is the fictional best friend of the Molly doll, which I had as a kid and that Molly had been playing with before this.  All the Molly stuff is about to be retired so my mom jumped on the chance to get Molly her very own AG doll.
Stockton got clothes, a remote-controlled helicopter, a razor scooter, and Justice League action figures.
Brynn got clothes and a Bitty Baby.
And that wrapped up the days of gift-giving.  We are so blessed and fortunate to have so much as far as material means go but even more so we have such amazing families and the time spent with all of them, for me, was the best part of the season.

Molly had a shaky start on her new pogo stick until I told her to start small so she set a goal to get 5 jumps, then 10, and so on.  She did that for a while and then figured out that it's much easier outside where there is room to bounce around.  She caught on pretty quickly after that.
A few minutes after Justin took this video, she got up to 102!!

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Stockton's 16th birthday

Stockton turned 16 on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. We've always told him he has the best day to have a birthday but I don't think he was convinced this year. He was anxious to turn 16 and get his license...it really felt like it took forever to get here. I told Justin that Stockton had to wait so much longer than Molly to get his license and he said, "actually, it took the exact same amount of time", which is factually true, it just felt a lot longer with Molly getting her license September of her sophomore year and Stockton not getting his until after sophomore year, before junior year. But, it did eventually arrive and we did our best to celebrate. We did the family celebration the Sunday before, since it was Girl's Camp that week and Justin, Molly, and Brynn would all be gone on his actual birthday. We had his requested dinner, meatballs, and he opened his presents. He got his favorite treats (nerd clusters, sour patch watermelon, and cow tails) and a new bat th...

all about Stockton

Stockton has loved having his license. He enjoys his independence immensely and does not take it for granted, probably because he had to wait for so long. He takes care of his truck, inside and out. He is always willing to run errands for me or take/pick up his sisters when I need him to. He tries to take back roads whenever he can-good thing you can get most anywhere in Heber on back roads.   This summer his love for cars has really amped up. He said he's always loved cars but he has just been noticing and talking about them more and more. He will point out a "cool car" whenever we are in the car and has a lot of knowledge about all the different features of the different cars. He has a dream car (can't remember which one) but also knows which color he would get in each of the different kinds of sports cars. He has slowly been buying sports car Lego sets with his birthday money, putting them together, and displaying them in his room. It's fun to see how excited h...
