Obviously, the biggest thing in Brynn's life right now is cheer. She has found a sport she LOVES. Tryouts are coming up in May for the next season and she is taking some private tumbling lessons to prepare for that. She is doing amazing in this sport.
Brynn's transition into middle school has gone really well. She got the hang of the schedule quick. She has a lot of friends. She is good to stay up with her homework and knows where her grades are most of the time. She is enjoying her FACS class (home-ec) and graphic design, loved yoga her first semester, doesn't love science, and is looking forward to some fun classes that she is signed up for next year.
Going into Young Women's has also been super fun for Brynn. She enjoys going. There are not a lot of girls her age (only three new girls this year-one is still in elementary school and the other is with her dad a lot on Wednesday nights) but I don't think she cares too much. She does have Carli Steiner in there with her. Carli is a year older but they've always been good friends. Brynn's a good sport to go and do anything so she has a good time.
Going to the temple has been a great experience for Brynn as well. For as hard as it is to make appointments, she has been able to go four times already! Once in January with Molly and the YW, in February when Justin and I took her and Stockton to the Provo City Center Temple, in March she went before school one day with Taylee Baird and her dad. They left Heber at 5:00 am and were back in time for school and Brynn told me it was "amazing!" Then finally with both Molly and Stockton when I was able to get a reservation during Spring Break. Not sure we can keep this up, but we will try.
Brynn does not like to be late for anything. She is very much my child in this regard and always wants to make sure we are leaving on time for anything.
That being said, she is very hard to get up and going on a school morning. I start waking her up at 6:30 and go in her room every 10 minutes until she is actually up...usually 30 minutes later and once I am really getting after her to wake up. It doesn't help that she has cheer late twice a week (until 9:15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays). But Molly and Stockton are the same so...
Brynn still plays with Ivy all the time. If we are home on Saturdays, Sunday afternoons, occasionally during the week depending on what is going on. It will be sad day when she starts to grow out of this.
I stop packing kids lunches once they get to middle school. It's just that much earlier and it is seriously one of the chores I hate the most. After a week at TMS though, Brynn decided she did not like school lunches and she has packed herself a lunch every day. Sometimes I cringe at what she is packing but I still let her do it on her own.
Brynn was 54 pounds and 62 inches at her well-check. I don't have percentages for this but I'm assuming it's low, if not 0. We had a good laugh when the doctor told her she was in the 75th percentile. One of the nurses must have entered some wrong information somewhere. Being small suits her.
Brynn listens to audiobook everyday, like Ivy does. She prefers listening over reading. She gets her favorites on her kindle and listens to them repeatedly.
