Goodrich reunion week

We were so excited to spend a week with all of the Goodrich family, especially since Covid had prevented the Tanner's from coming to Utah at all last summer.  It's hard to believe that it had been two years since we had seen them (other than Molly who visited them last November).  Gene and April played around with going somewhere but it worked out better to stay close to home and plan a different activity for each day.

As soon as our week freed up after the 4th and the cousin swap, I invited anyone who was available to come up to our house for an afternoon and evening.  Heidi was unavailable but Camille and Rachelle brought their kids.  Gene, April, and Brett made an appearance as well but just for a short time.  Camille's kids were in heaven with all the animals.  They held chickens and chased kittens the entire afternoon.

I had Justin help me cut a big section of some roof sheeting that we had leftover from the house project.  These make the best slip 'n slides.  The boys had fun playing some sort of game where they had to try to slide from one side to the other without getting tagged by "it."

We did hot dogs and brats for dinner with the traditional summer sides and then played the rest of the night.  Whiffle ball, a lot of hanging out and talking, the table challenge...fun times.  Camille and some of her boys stayed the night to have a sleepover in the trailer.  They went home in the morning since we had a few other things going that day and weekend.

We all got together on Sunday for dinner.  Not a single person was missing.  April took advantage of having everyone together and had her neighbor come and take some family pictures.  We got individual family pics as well.  April didn't love how they turned out but I think they are fine and something is better than nothing.  Our family was way past due-Ivy was only 2 the last time we had family pictures taken!

We always get a picture of these three.  They sure have grown up since last time! Lizzy, Molly, Tiana

It is so awesome to see these kids together.  They can go two years without seeing each other and still have such great relationships.  It makes my heart happy.  That must be the "spirit of Elijah" at work, maybe.

Justin had to work Monday and the family was driving down to Vernal for the day.  We drove down that night when Justin got home so we could be there for Tuesday.  Gene and April had booked some hotel rooms that night and we drove the extra hour to Flaming Gorge in the morning.  They had also reserved three rafts and we were floating the river there!

A stop at Subway for lunches.  We ate while we waited for the dads to do all the shuttling logistics.  Yay for finally getting on the river.

We started in three different rafts but there was a lot of switching around.  At one point we managed to get all the girls on one raft.  We had a couple of squirt guns and a frisbee.  Only the brave jumped in.  Others fell in on accident.

We found a sandbar and got out for a couple of minutes.  Potty break, photo op, water fights.  The entire trip took about 3-4 hours.  The end was tricky because the water was so low.  We hit so many rocks and even got stuck on a few and had to get out and push.  But...always such a fun trip.  Perfect for all ages!

We went home that night.  Brynn had choreography week for 5 hours on Wednesday and Thursday so we had to work around that.  I think they went hiking on Wednesday, maybe.  We drove down when Brynn was done that night.  Someone in Gene and April's ward was letting us use their home pool for a few hours.  These kids love swimming...we stayed until dark.  That night I drove home with just Brynn.  Molly, Stockton, and Ivy stayed either with Eric and Heidi or Grandma and Grandpa.

The next day was Snowbird.  Brynn had another 5-hour choreography day so that's why she had to come home with me.  The other three got to go with their cousins.  From the pictures and what they told me, they had a blast.  Alpine Slide, ropes course, bungee trampoline, gondola, etc.  Glad they could go and make those memories.  Brynn was too excited about her cheer stuff to be too bothered about missing.  They stayed Thursday night as well since it would have been too much of a hassle to go get them just to turn around again on Friday for another activity.  Justin was also having his work bbq at our house that night, so there was that conflict as well.  They were happy to have another night with cousins since they were getting close to being over.

Our final activity was Friday afternoon.  We were going to meet at the lake for paddleboarding but decided to do an easier activity.  We decided on more swimming, this time at the American Fork pool.  This is a super awesome pool and the kids really were happy to be swimming again.  It was hard to say those good-byes when we left.  The Brown's were heading back to Seattle the next day.  The Tanner's still had a week in Utah but we were leaving the following day for a week and wouldn't be seeing them again.  So grateful we had this week together and that it went so well.

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Christmas Advent 2012

Okay, here goes... Day 1: paint clay ornaments When we cut down trees this year there were a bunch of tops already cut down just lying on the ground so we took a couple home...one for Molly and Stockton's room and one for Brynn's room.  When the ornaments were dry I hung them on their little trees. Day 2: watch the Christmas Devotional (And eat Christmas corn!) Day 3: library story time Stockton was pretty nervous to see Santa but I think he was even more scared of not telling him what he wanted for Christmas.  He's smiling but it's a nervous smile!   Brynn had no reaction.   Day 4: Santa face craft   Day 5: Festival of Lights   Day 6: write letters to Santa Stockton: "Captain America" Molly: "an easy bake oven" & "a car for Molly"    Day 7: go shopping for cousin exchange and wrap presents Day 8: North Pole Express with Moyes family           ...
