Easter 2021

We were able to go back to our traditional Easter activities this year, starting with my mom's party in Plain City.  We never know what we'll get in regards to weather, but it was beautiful this year!  All my kids insisted on wearing shorts.  We started with the games my mom had planned.  The kids pushed balloons with their noses, fed each other licorice ropes, threw bouncy balls into bowls, wore shower caps with shaving cream and threw cheetos on each others heads, and made egg towers.  Grandpa kept track of points.

We hid their eggs across the street at Bryce and Erin's house.  They each had 5 eggs with their names on them and they had to work with their partner to find their eggs (so 10 total) before getting their points from Grandpa.  Grandma also had their gift bag's ready and filled with a small toy (like sidewalk chalk or goggles) and a summer outfit.

The kids hid the adult eggs-they were hard!  The adults had a lightning basketball game before we called it a night and drove home.  Such a fun day with my family.

The kids decorated eggs the Saturday afternoon before Easter.  I boiled a ton of eggs, made the dye, and set it up for them out in the yard.  I took some pictures but mostly left them to it.  Stockton made the solar system and Brynn and Ivy drew faces on their eggs.  I think Molly tried to do a tie-dye look.

look closely at Brynn's shirt..haha

Easter morning was also General Conference.  I've decided that I like it when they fall on the same day.  We keep our Easter morning simple and that's just the way I like it.  They had to find their baskets first-they just had candy in them this time.  Stockton found his basket last.  After everyone found their baskets, they could hunt for the chocolate eggs hidden throughout the kitchen and living room.  (This is my favorite part because Justin and I sit back and watch and don't help at all.)

I had also done some shopping for Easter dresses/clothes.  They were set out on the fireplace, oldest to youngest, left to right.  The girls got Easter dresses.  None of them actually needed a dress and I almost didn't do them this year but then I decided that I love the tradition too much and did it anyway.  Molly picked out her own but I surprised Brynn and Ivy with theirs-they are still at a good age for that.  Stockton really didn't need church clothes so he got a couple pairs of shorts.

We finished with plenty of time to get our breakfast prep finished up and the table set.  We had our traditional sticky buns, cheesy eggs with ham, bacon, and chocolate milk.  While Justin and I finished preparations the kids made candy armies out of their treats.  I think this was Stockton's idea and the rest of them got on board quickly.  They have never done this before, I'm not sure where he got the idea.

We watched the morning session of Conference at home then went to Gene and April's for the second session.  We had dinner there and then Grandpa had a treasure hunt for the kids.  He had clues that rhymed and every other location had a "cache" of goodies for the kids.  They had a lot of fun.

They wore their new clothes the next week when we had home church.  They wore them the week after that as well when it was our turn to go to church at the church house.  Stockton didn't think he needed to be in the picture because he wasn't wearing new church clothes but I made him anyway.  I tried to take the picture inside in front of the fireplace and was met with way more resistance than I would have thought-everyone insisted the photo be taken outside at what has been dubbed "the picture tree."

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Stockton's 16th birthday

Stockton turned 16 on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. We've always told him he has the best day to have a birthday but I don't think he was convinced this year. He was anxious to turn 16 and get his license...it really felt like it took forever to get here. I told Justin that Stockton had to wait so much longer than Molly to get his license and he said, "actually, it took the exact same amount of time", which is factually true, it just felt a lot longer with Molly getting her license September of her sophomore year and Stockton not getting his until after sophomore year, before junior year. But, it did eventually arrive and we did our best to celebrate. We did the family celebration the Sunday before, since it was Girl's Camp that week and Justin, Molly, and Brynn would all be gone on his actual birthday. We had his requested dinner, meatballs, and he opened his presents. He got his favorite treats (nerd clusters, sour patch watermelon, and cow tails) and a new bat th...

all about Stockton

Stockton has loved having his license. He enjoys his independence immensely and does not take it for granted, probably because he had to wait for so long. He takes care of his truck, inside and out. He is always willing to run errands for me or take/pick up his sisters when I need him to. He tries to take back roads whenever he can-good thing you can get most anywhere in Heber on back roads.   This summer his love for cars has really amped up. He said he's always loved cars but he has just been noticing and talking about them more and more. He will point out a "cool car" whenever we are in the car and has a lot of knowledge about all the different features of the different cars. He has a dream car (can't remember which one) but also knows which color he would get in each of the different kinds of sports cars. He has slowly been buying sports car Lego sets with his birthday money, putting them together, and displaying them in his room. It's fun to see how excited h...
