all about Brynn

Brynn is our resident animal caretaker.  All summer long she has taken care of all the critters each morning.  The lambs (more to come later), the kittens, Cash.

Brynn is a daredevil and our child who has no fear of heights.  She will follow Justin into whatever adventure he is leading her into with complete trust and a heavy dose of excitement.

Brynn has a girly side and a tomboy side.  She loves makeup, fancy clothes, high heels, shoes in general, purses, fingernail polish, etc.  She loves shopping for shoes online.  On the flip side, she loves being outside, getting dirty, hiking, camping, etc.  I love that she is both of these extremes in one tiny person.

As a student, Brynn is a good one, however, she has a habit of doing everything as fast as possible.  The result of this is that a lot of her work ends up being sloppy or she skims over unfamiliar words when reading.  We are working on this but it still has yet to take effect.  It is a habit that is proving hard to break.  Overall, she does great at school and is very well-behaved and happy to be there.  Her teachers are lucky to have her in their class.

She has conquered her backhandspring this past year and is so close to getting her aerial.  She's done it before but is not consistently doing it.  She is wanting to branch out this next year and try cheerleading at the same place she's been taking her tumbling for the past couple of years.  She is really excited at the prospect and they should continue to work on her tumbling skills.  She really, really wants to be a "flier."

Brynn's bedtime routine is quite complex.  I wish it wasn't but the alternative is meltdowns which ends up taking even longer.  Right now it's her turn to be read to (Harry Potter #1) so I do that and then get her tucked in with all her special "stuffies".  Then I turn on her podcast (Circle Round), set a timer for it to turn off in an hour, and then set another timer for 10 minutes signaling when she needs to turn her lamp off.  She always makes sure I am going to check on her before going up to bed, which I do anyway, but starts to get panicky if she's still awake and it seems like I might not go check on her.  She panics if I try to close the door.  I don't know how all of this stuff became "necessary" but it is quite exhausting sometimes.  Luckily, for the most part, she goes to sleep quickly.

Brynn is pretty good to play with Ivy.  They definitely have their moments when they argue but they always go back to each other.  Brynn will still play things like house and dress-ups and other make believe games that the older two have grown out of.  She also spends a good amount of time with Stockton.

Brynn is most definitely the goof of the family. She is so silly and weird and just plain random.  She makes the weirdest noises and voices and most family dinners we sit around and laugh at her antics.  This is a side that not many people would expect or get to see.

Brynn was able to make it into the doctor for her check-up right before coronavirus shut the whole world down.  She was happy to have finally made it to 40 pounds-on the dot!  She was also 46 inches.  We tease her because at the rate she has grown (about 3-4 pounds each year), she will be 80 pounds when she graduates from high school!  Her size doesn't seem to bother her or slow her down at all.

Brynn loves strawberries.  When in season, she will beg me to buy her a pack of strawberries and then she will eat the whole thing in one sitting.  She is anxious for the day that we plant strawberries in the garden.

Brynn, most of the time, is very cooperative and has a go-with-the flow attitude.  She is a good friend who will defer to what they want to do almost 100% of the time (different story with siblings 😂).  When in the right mood, she is also the most helpful of all my kids and will often do a lot of chores without be asked and with a cheerful attitude.  Although she does put off her daily chores often to play with Stockton or Ivy.  Everyone needs a Brynn in their life and we are very blessed to have her as part of our family.

She loves her bangs even though I keep trying to be sneaky and pull them out of her face each day.  Her hair has gotten long again this summer but it's almost time for her to chop it off again for school.  She looks adorable with a bobbed haircut and I always get excited for her to get it cut as well.

Brynn has always been cute but is becoming quite beautiful with her petite features and pretty smile.  Her teeth, surprisingly, seem to have come in straight and even so we will see what her future is as far as orthodontics are concerned.  Maybe we'll get lucky and she won't need any braces like her older sister who got a definite "you won't need braces" at her last dental exam.

Brynn has always been a momma's girl and that has not changed.  She always tries to snuggle up right next to me-at church (home church these days), during scriptures, movie nights, etc.  She has a need to be physically close to me whenever possible.

Brynn can spin and spin and spin and never get dizzy.
