Halloween

Halloween always begins in Plain City with my mom's party.  We headed down after one of Molly's soccer games so we missed the majority of the pumpkin carving.  I think Stockton ran out and hurried and did one while I was getting costumes on everyone.  This year we ended up with a lumberjack (for the party), Spiderman, a hula dancer, and Princess Aurora.  It's always fun to see what the other cousins (and sometimes adults) choose as their costumes.

Games.  It was too windy and cold to be outside so we adjusted and went inside.  I'll let the pictures explain themselves but we had a lot of fun.  After the games, there was dinner and playing around with cousins (and yoga).

Justin stayed at home to do house stuff.  This was the weekend that we had no insulation so I ended up staying at my parents where it was warm.  Brynn slept in the big bed with me.  When we got home the following morning there was snow on the ground.  Having just returned from tropical, sunny, warm Hawaii to that was a little depressing-I was not ready to face the cold and the snow.
Ivy had her preschool Halloween party on the 30th.  This was the day we got her really fixed up-we put curlers in her hair the night before.  She looked adorable.  She decided last year after Halloween that she was going to be Aurora and she stuck to it the entire year.  She got a Sleeping Beauty dress-up for Christmas last year and was going to wear that but she had it on a couple of weeks before Halloween and snagged it getting down from Molly's bed and ripped it beyond repair.  She was devastated but Amazon Prime came through for me and delivered the exact costume with plenty of time to spare.
my attempt at Aurora hair-it was pretty but fell out fast-we did it different for Halloween day/night to make it more secure
My preschool party was the same day.  Here are my 6 boys and 1 girl.

I only got a picture of Brynn before school.  Molly didn't dress up for school and Stockton just wore his Braves jersey.  Brynn looked adorable as a Hawaiian hula dancer.  If you look closely, you can see the hibiscus earrings we brought back for her from Hawaii.  They went perfectly with her costume.
Halloween parade.  I debated about going and then decided that I would feel guilty if I didn't.  It was just so cold and they still held it outside.  We saw Stockton and Brynn and then got out of there.  Stockton's last Halloween parade.  Next year it will be Brynn and Ivy.
Ivy and I got a few things done at home and then went back to help with Stockton's class party.  I was in charge of a game and found some cards for "Truth or Scare" that ended up being fun.  Wish I could have been in two places at once and helped with Brynn's party as well.
After the kids got home from school, I took them to Lee's for trick-or-treating.  Justin was in bed with the flu but the kids didn't want to miss out.  It's tradition after all.  Lee's does a great job with their spook alley behind the dairy freezers in their warehouse area and the kids always look forward to that part.  It was crazy busy!  We had to stop and take a picture in dad's office even though he was gone.
It's always a rush after that to eat dinner, get ready, and make it out the door for trick-or-treating.  Molly had decided that she didn't want to be a lumberjack anymore so she had spent some time making a deer costume.  She also had made plans with friends and was going to a party followed by a little bit of trick-or-treating.  So grown-up.  Stockton put on his real costume and Brynn and Ivy got a little touch up, but not much.  It was a super cold night so we donned lots and lots of layers and took a quick picture before heading our separate ways (Molly to her party, me and the littles to a neighboring neighborhood, Justin home in bed nursing his flu).
Right before we left, Stockton threw on his Donovan Mitchell Jazz t-shirt over his costume.  Get it?...Spidadmitchell.  He thought he was very clever.
I took Stockton, Brynn, and Ivy to trick-or-treat in the Heber Meadows neighborhood in our ward.  We pulled up to park on the side of the road and were right in time to see this amazing sunset.  Because of the cold, it was pretty empty of other kids but Stockton did find Kelton Webb and his dad and ended up spending the rest of the night with them.  Brynn found Carli Steiner and she stayed with us.  We did the whole neighborhood and were home in about an hour.  Everyone was happy with their candy pile.
