Brynn's 8th birthday

Brynn turned 8 on Thursday, March 7, 2019.  The first bit of her celebrating came on the Sunday before her birthday when Gene, April, and Brett came up.  They were heading to Atlanta for that week so they came a little early.  April made lasagna for us and then Brynn opened a couple of presents.  She got her 8 year old doll and an echo dot for her room.  We had mini bundt cakes and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert.  I remember this night that Brynn was bouncing off the walls in anticipation for her birthday week, which started the next morning.
When she woke up on her actual birthday, we were in Colorado.  I got doughnuts for her birthday breakfast and we had the chocolate milk that I had packed.  Then she got to get in the car and drive for 9 hours.  I felt bad that we drove on her birthday but it was the end of a fun vacation so I don't feel too bad.  We let her open her presents when we got home that night. She wanted a scavenger hunt.  She got a snow cone machine, a unicorn costume and her favorite treats (mini starbursts, gum, and chocolate covered blueberries).  The unicorn thing is so random but she has been asking for one for a while now and we didn't have any other ideas.  It made her very happy.

Since we were traveling on her birthday, I let her have all her favorite foods on the day after.  She wanted french toast with whipped cream and sprinkles for breakfast.
I went to help in her class that day.  She requested Capri Suns and laffy taffy's to pass around to her class.  When she got home, she was anxious to make some snow cones.  Molly was kind enough to make some simple syrups out of kool-aid for her.  Corbin was over playing and Audrey Stout stayed after her piano lesson to play so Brynn got to make snow cones for both of them.  They all thought it was pretty great!  She's been able to make them a few times since and loves it every time.
She requested tacos for her dinner and then we had cake and ice cream.  I made this sprinkle roll-up cake with chocolate cake and blue frosting.  And lots and lots of sprinkles!  We had bubble gum ice cream.

Part of Brynn's birthday and part of Ivy's birthday was tickets to Disney on Ice from my parents and that was two days after Brynn's birthday.  The plan was to meet my mom there and go together but my mom was having a horrible reaction to an antibiotic so it was just me and the girls.  We really missed her, mostly because we know that those outings are some of her favorite things.  We had been planning this for a couple of months and she was so disappointed not to be there.  But the girls were happy to be there and excited that I packed a couple of princess dress-ups for them to wear over their clothes.  My mom had sent some money for souvenirs and they both picked out some unicorn wands that light up and cotton candy at intermission.  Our favorite princesses this year were Rapunzel and Moana.
After the show, we went back to Plain City.  Molly and Stockton were there already (my dad had met me in Salt Lake and took them back home with him) and my mom had presents for Brynn.  It was sort of warm (what the kids think is warm compared to the winter we just made it through) and the kids spent a few hours playing outside with their cousins.  Justin was working all day so I let them stay and play since there was nothing for us to hurry home to.  My mom ordered pizza and everyone came over.  Those impromptu get-together's are really great!  My parents gave Brynn her presents.  She got new clothes-she had gone shopping with my mom the week before and picked out those overalls and wasn't sure my mom had bought them.  She was delighted to find out that she had!  She also got a small backpack with "flippy" sequins because every time they went into a store, she would make a beeline to anything with those kind of sequins.  Inside the backpack was some scented gel pens and lip gloss.  My mom knows Brynn so well!  Her main gift was a big, round swing for our yard.  Justin set it up and hung it from the loft when she went to bed that night so she was able to wake up and play on it a little.
Brynn is a special girl and we are beyond happy she is in our family!

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Stockton's 16th birthday

Stockton turned 16 on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. We've always told him he has the best day to have a birthday but I don't think he was convinced this year. He was anxious to turn 16 and get his license...it really felt like it took forever to get here. I told Justin that Stockton had to wait so much longer than Molly to get his license and he said, "actually, it took the exact same amount of time", which is factually true, it just felt a lot longer with Molly getting her license September of her sophomore year and Stockton not getting his until after sophomore year, before junior year. But, it did eventually arrive and we did our best to celebrate. We did the family celebration the Sunday before, since it was Girl's Camp that week and Justin, Molly, and Brynn would all be gone on his actual birthday. We had his requested dinner, meatballs, and he opened his presents. He got his favorite treats (nerd clusters, sour patch watermelon, and cow tails) and a new bat th...

all about Stockton

Stockton has loved having his license. He enjoys his independence immensely and does not take it for granted, probably because he had to wait for so long. He takes care of his truck, inside and out. He is always willing to run errands for me or take/pick up his sisters when I need him to. He tries to take back roads whenever he can-good thing you can get most anywhere in Heber on back roads.   This summer his love for cars has really amped up. He said he's always loved cars but he has just been noticing and talking about them more and more. He will point out a "cool car" whenever we are in the car and has a lot of knowledge about all the different features of the different cars. He has a dream car (can't remember which one) but also knows which color he would get in each of the different kinds of sports cars. He has slowly been buying sports car Lego sets with his birthday money, putting them together, and displaying them in his room. It's fun to see how excited h...
