My mom is the best at planning summer vacations. Even when they are not big (like San Diego, Lake Tahoe, or Disneyland) they are still awesome and we always have a blast together. This year was a smaller getaway but so, so fun for all of us.
We met on Friday at Jordanelle. My dad had the boat and the jet skis and everyone else brought their kayaks and paddleboards and we spent the whole day on the lake. It was slightly overcast and even sprinkled on us for a bit which made so much of the crowd leave. We are die-hards, however, and stuck around and it was a beautiful day and not too crowded.
The
tube is always the favorite so that was going almost constantly. Boat
rides, jet ski rides, paddleboarding, and kayaking were the other things
going on. Stockton and Grant kayaked to an island and pretended to be
explorers. Justin found a tree with a ladder and a ledge to jump off
of into the water.

After a full day at the beach, everyone headed to our house for dinner and a campout. Our yard is perfect for camping and cheaper than a campsite! My mom had stuff for tacos, the kids played, we set up tents (my dad borrowed a huge tent that fit all the grandkids and my parents-Justin and I slept in our own tent with Ivy), and we watched Monsters Inc outside when it got dark.

In the morning we had breakfast and got ready for the day. My mom had made sure to let a handful of zucchinis grow really big-she paired up the cousins and had each pair make and decorate a zucchini boat for later that afternoon. We absolutely loved having them at our house...I swear I love our yard more and more every year and everytime we do something like this. It is just fun!

My mom had reservations for a ropes course later in the afternoon so she asked me to plan something that we could do for a few hours before our appointment. We have a large group with lots of kids so I wasn't sure a hike was exactly right. Then Heidi took me to South Fork Park and I knew that would be where I was going to take my family. It was a perfect fit-we had a picnic lunch, the kids floated their zucchini boats down the river, they explored and played in the water. There was a family reunion at the bowery that was doing soda pop bottle rockets and they invited our kids to make a rocket and launch it. The ice cream truck came up to the park and grandma got everyone an ice cream treat.

We played there for a few hours and then drove over to the CLAS ropes course in Provo. We divided into two groups and played teamwork games, did the rock climbing wall, and ziplined. There was something there for every age and adventure level and something that all of us enjoyed.
Teamwork games with Goodrich and Moyes families-
Rock climbing-
Molly made it to the top first so Justin and I had to as well. Stockton, Brynn, and Ivy went as far as they felt comfortable.
Zip line-
The big zipline had quite the climb so only Justin, Molly, and I did it that way. They had a different way that everyone who didn't want to go from the top could still do part of the zipline and that satisfied everyone else. It was a blast!

| I wish I had this picture facing the other way. Ivy had no fear and had them pull her up as far as they could and then let go. As she was going down she put her arms out to the side like she was flying. It was so adorable! |
My mom and I ran and got a whole bunch of pizzas and they let us eat dinner right there before going home. Justin found a rope swing that went into the river so of course anyone who wanted to had to do that before we all left to go home (Justin, Molly, Stockton, and Brynn all did it in their clothes). We were all exhausted but so happy after making so many awesome memories.
