It was a cabin Thanksgiving this year so we headed up to Bear Lake Thanksgiving morning and were able to spend the whole weekend there (until Saturday, at least). We got there in time to help with the finishing preparations for dinner. There was an adult table and three kid tables! Dinner was delicious, as usual, but the company was even better. I really love my family!

After dinner some of us went for a stroll around the golf course. It felt great to walk off some of that food...and to get ready for some pie as soon as we got back!

Stockton thought a four wheeler ride sounded better than a walk.
Erin W. had brought popcorn and cranberries for the kids to make garlands. When they were finished stringing them, they took them outside and hung them on the trees for the birds to enjoy.
Grandma handed out jammies, books, and ornaments that night.

We decorated gingerbread houses. This is usually something I don't love but the kids were old enough this year to be fairly independent in the decorating. So I was able to enjoy it a little more.

Molly finally got to hold Josie!
And all the kids were able to get a Rhino ride at some time during the weekend.

Jeff had brought some of those things that dentist's use to hold your mouth open for us to play a funny game. Ali had a whole bunch of Christmas phrases that you had to say while it was in your mouth and your team had to guess what you were saying. I didn't realize that it was an actual game that you can purchase until we got home and I saw people playing it all over Instagram!

On Friday morning we packed lunches and snow gear and headed up into the mountains to hunt for our Christmas tree. It was a beautiful day with blue skies! We searched around for a little while but it didn't take us long to find our "perfect" tree.
After the important stuff was taken care of, we ate lunch sitting on tailgates.

Grandpa started a fire and Grandma had stuff for s'mores. The kids found a patch of ice and turned it into a small skating pond. We were also entertained by Ben when he broke into some awesome dance moves when I blasted some Michael Buble Christmas music. Such a great day and a tradition that brings so many happy memories for our family.

Justin was happy that there was snow up in the mountains but not on the golf course which meant that he could golf a little. He forgot his own clubs but my dad keeps a couple sets at the cabin all the time.
Molly had fun with little Lucy, who had started to warm up to "strangers."
We put together a puzzle on Friday night.

We also played games, ate lots of junk food, and talked while the kids watched Christmas movies and pretty much ran amok around the cabin. Fun, fun times!
We didn't forget to do our Thankful Tree, only this year we just hung our leaves in the window. I was sure that Ivy would tear a tree down so this was a great alternative. I also printed that banner and had the kids color it early on in the month. It said "Give Thanks."
This is what everyone was thankful for.

(You can tell that we would do this at dinner. When Brynn couldn't think of anything to say, she would just look around and say whatever she saw which explains why she was grateful for things like spoons, forks, bowls, and pots!)
