Stockton's 6th birthday

We celebrated Stockton's birthday on the 24th, the day before his birthday, since he would be gone to Grandkid Camp on the 25th.  He didn't seem to mind.  He was excited to wake up the "day" of his birthday.  6 years old is a big deal!

We didn't do much that day...he had been sick a couple days earlier and it sort of came back that morning.  I had thought about a picnic but he didn't even have an appetite so we just laid low at home and let him rest.

When Justin got home, he opened his presents.  Justin made him a little scavenger hunt in the yard.

He got some of his favorite treats (Hi-Chews, Mambas, gummy worms), a new Braves baseball hat, a Star Wars scanimation book, and an Anakin to Darth Vader action figure.  The action figure was a last-minute thing because other than that, he wasn't getting any toys.  It was worth it to see his excitement.
The last clue led him to a key.  He had to unlock the shed to find his new bike.
He really just wanted to go play with his Star Wars toy but we made him go try out his bike for a couple of minutes.
My parents arrived about then and we had his requested dinner: red meatballs.  I was nervous about him eating and keeping it down but he seemed to be over whatever it was he had and he ate his favorite meal with gusto!

After dinner, we headed to his last T-ball game of the season.  Wasatch County doesn't do sports pictures, but the team got together at the end and I was able to get a picture real quick.
I couldn't tell you the names of the players.  Stockton is the third in from the left
Stockton's coach brought cupcakes in honor of it being the last game but we'd already planned to go get ice cream after the game, so we did that too.  Stockton said he didn't want any ice cream but then he saw everyone else enjoying theirs, so he decided to get a cone.  He took one bite and was done but, hey, it was his birthday so whatever goes.  Happy Birthday bud!
Then my parents loaded up the oldest three kids and off they went.  They were going back to Plain City for the night and were heading to Bear Lake the following day (Stockton's actual birthday) for Grandkid Camp.

The next birthday celebration was the 26th.  Stockton wanted to do his birthday cake/cupcakes with his cousins when we were all at the cabin so that's what we did.  He wanted something Star Wars themed and I did my best.  He chose funfetti cake (a doctored up cake mix that is my go-to cake/cupcake recipe) with red frosting and sprinkles on top.  I dipped pretzel sticks in colored white chocolate and called them lightsabers and that was it.
He opened his presents from Grandma and Grandpa-lots of clothes, a stomp rocket, and a zip line.  Yes, a zip line-why not?  We have had a blast with it this summer.

The third part of his birthday celebration was the following Monday night, when Grandma and Grandpa Goodrich make a quick trip up to our house.  We had some Sprite/lime floats and Stockton opened up the last of his presents: some light-up legos and a backpacking backpack like Molly's that he has wanted.

All in all, a successful 6th birthday!

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Stockton's 16th birthday

Stockton turned 16 on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. We've always told him he has the best day to have a birthday but I don't think he was convinced this year. He was anxious to turn 16 and get his license...it really felt like it took forever to get here. I told Justin that Stockton had to wait so much longer than Molly to get his license and he said, "actually, it took the exact same amount of time", which is factually true, it just felt a lot longer with Molly getting her license September of her sophomore year and Stockton not getting his until after sophomore year, before junior year. But, it did eventually arrive and we did our best to celebrate. We did the family celebration the Sunday before, since it was Girl's Camp that week and Justin, Molly, and Brynn would all be gone on his actual birthday. We had his requested dinner, meatballs, and he opened his presents. He got his favorite treats (nerd clusters, sour patch watermelon, and cow tails) and a new bat th...

all about Stockton

Stockton has loved having his license. He enjoys his independence immensely and does not take it for granted, probably because he had to wait for so long. He takes care of his truck, inside and out. He is always willing to run errands for me or take/pick up his sisters when I need him to. He tries to take back roads whenever he can-good thing you can get most anywhere in Heber on back roads.   This summer his love for cars has really amped up. He said he's always loved cars but he has just been noticing and talking about them more and more. He will point out a "cool car" whenever we are in the car and has a lot of knowledge about all the different features of the different cars. He has a dream car (can't remember which one) but also knows which color he would get in each of the different kinds of sports cars. He has slowly been buying sports car Lego sets with his birthday money, putting them together, and displaying them in his room. It's fun to see how excited h...
