finishing up July

We used our Pass of All Passes to get into Tracy Aviary one day.  Ali and her boys and Grandma came with us.  It was hot but the kids didn't seem to mind.  They ran around looking at all the birds until it was time for snow cones and water play.  The highlight of the "bird zoo" was when Molly and Gavin found some eggs tucked away in some big bushes.  It was all very exciting.

Cooling off with snow cones and in the Seven Canyons Fountain.
Stockton and Grant had matching snow cones!  They thought that was pretty cool!

I packed that day with lots of busyness.  We started out with swimming lessons, left immediately from there for the Aviary, played all afternoon, then quickly ran home to pick up the previously cooked ribs for Justin's work barbecue in Heber.  Started driving to Heber but only got halfway there-at the mouth of Provo Canyon I realized that I had only grabbed half of the ribs.  So I turned around, drove back home (about 20-25 min), got the rest of the ribs, got back in the car and drove 45 minutes to Justin's barbecue, where everyone was waiting on me to bring the main dish.  My poor kids had spent a total of 3 hours in the car-they were so good but I felt so bad for them!!  Funny, though, I had forgotten all of this until I sat down to blog about the Aviary.  Good thing we can forget the frustrating things so quickly!!

My mom and dad gave Justin and the other dads tickets to a Bee's game for Father's Day so we all met up to do that.  If you know my family well, you know we love us some baseball games!  I really can't think of a much better way to spend a summer evening.

A few of the kids caught baseballs from the visiting team that we sat right behind.  I think we brought home two.

Justin had a day off so we took the kids to the Veteran's pool in Provo.  I've always been by myself with the kids at this pool so it was nice to have another hand to help.  It also meant that Molly could go down the big slides.  She went down by herself but she at least had someone to stand in line with her.  Stockton wouldn't do the slides until Justin bribed him with a new toy...so he did it once (on mine or Justin's lap, I can't remember) and then was done.  He just spent his time in the kiddie pool but he did put his head under a lot.

Justin had a work golf tournament in Ogden so the kids and I tagged along so we could spend the day with my family.  We swam in the pool all morning.

When Justin got home we went to Willard Bay with my mom and dad.  I think I can say that this was the highlight of our summer.  We had two colder days in Bear Lake and don't usually make it to Willard Bay with everything else going on so this was a nice little surprise activity.  (Justin had never been to the Bay before.)  We just played on the beach and took turns on the waverunners.  We had a blast!!

Molly tried skiing but wasn't able to stand up.  I was proud of her for giving it a try and not giving up after the first fall.
That's my dad on the waverunner and Justin helping steady Molly in the water.
The water at Willard Bay is so nice and warm so the kids had a blast just swimming on the beach.  It really was such a pleasant evening.

Bucket List Week 9 was to feed the ducks.  Justin had to go to work on a Saturday so I took the kids over to the duck pond by myself.  I had been saving all the ends of my bread just for this activity.  There were so many ducks and they were not nervous at all by us...in fact, I think I was more nervous of them, just because they kept getting so close!

Jeff and Ali had baby boy #3 on July 28th.  His name is Seth and he is every bit as cute as his older brothers.

Grandma Goodrich was staying at Gene and April's for a few weeks.  We were able to see her a couple of times.  She is a sweet grandma and we were happy to visit with her one afternoon before she headed back home to Idaho.

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Stockton's 16th birthday

Stockton turned 16 on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. We've always told him he has the best day to have a birthday but I don't think he was convinced this year. He was anxious to turn 16 and get his license...it really felt like it took forever to get here. I told Justin that Stockton had to wait so much longer than Molly to get his license and he said, "actually, it took the exact same amount of time", which is factually true, it just felt a lot longer with Molly getting her license September of her sophomore year and Stockton not getting his until after sophomore year, before junior year. But, it did eventually arrive and we did our best to celebrate. We did the family celebration the Sunday before, since it was Girl's Camp that week and Justin, Molly, and Brynn would all be gone on his actual birthday. We had his requested dinner, meatballs, and he opened his presents. He got his favorite treats (nerd clusters, sour patch watermelon, and cow tails) and a new bat th...

all about Stockton

Stockton has loved having his license. He enjoys his independence immensely and does not take it for granted, probably because he had to wait for so long. He takes care of his truck, inside and out. He is always willing to run errands for me or take/pick up his sisters when I need him to. He tries to take back roads whenever he can-good thing you can get most anywhere in Heber on back roads.   This summer his love for cars has really amped up. He said he's always loved cars but he has just been noticing and talking about them more and more. He will point out a "cool car" whenever we are in the car and has a lot of knowledge about all the different features of the different cars. He has a dream car (can't remember which one) but also knows which color he would get in each of the different kinds of sports cars. He has slowly been buying sports car Lego sets with his birthday money, putting them together, and displaying them in his room. It's fun to see how excited h...
