Stockton attended the preschool at Maple Mountain High School all year. His graduation was short but so fun to watch. The first thing they did was sing their class songs. Stockton just stood there and didn't sing and didn't dance but that was no surprise for us. He clams up in front of people...even me, when he notices that I'm watching him. After the singing all the kids sat in a circle while the teacher went around and asked each one what they liked about preschool and what they wanted to be when they grew up. Some answers were just what you'd expect: a princess, a superhero, a cowboy/cowgirl, etc. I thought for sure Stockton would follow his classmates and say he wanted to be some sort of superhero but he surprised us. "Stockton, what do you want to be when you grow up?" "A dad" was his reply and my heart about melted. So sweet.
The graduation procession.
Then refreshments outside. We got to mingle around and get to know a few of his teachers. Here he is with a handful of them.
It really was a great program for Stockton. We are proud of the things that he has learned this past year and I am really glad that I get him home for another year before sending him off to Kindergarten.
Molly graduated from Kindergarten later that week. They had the cutest program and we were all super impressed at how organized it was. Three Kindergarten classes and each kid knew where to go and when. It was quite enjoyable to watch.
All year long the kids have been learning about heroes so that was what they centered the program on. There were a couple of songs but the majority of it was dancing. They had a dance representing the military, policemen, firemen, etc. Molly was in one that recognized parents and grandparents (I guess we're heroes too).

On the whole, Molly really enjoyed Kindergarten. I am glad that she had such a good experience with her first year of school. She has excelled in all areas and is really looking forward to starting 1st grade.
I, on the other hand, am not sure how I feel about 1st grade. It is hard to let your kids grow up!!
We went out for ice cream later that night to celebrate. We got a little silly.
Just a few days after gradations I had a piano recital at our house for my six students. This was really fun for me and I was excited to see all the kids do an excellent job. I chose songs for them that really pushed them. And then I asked them to memorize them. And they all did! They each had a classical composer that they had to research and share some facts about...and then they had to play a duet with me as well. There were a couple of students that I was a little worried about...they were cutting it close and I wasn't sure they were going to pull through. But I was so glad to see them all rise to the occasion and nail their individual songs and duets. It's awesome to see them push themselves and succeed!
Molly was excited to participate this time, especially when we chose her song ("Swan Lake") although she was a little less excited when I told her she had to stand up and introduce herself and talk about her composer (Tchaikovsky). I even made her go first!
The rest of the kids. This is a great bunch of kids!!
Wow... I think you are a way better piano teacher than I ever was. Molly sounds great. I love all of your pictures and love that Stockton wants to be a dad. We miss you guys. :)
