the 4th of July and camping at Palisade Lake

Getting the bikes all decorated for the parade.
I had to throw this picture in for a laugh.  Stocky went potty and came out with his pj pants inside out and backwards.  Notice the tag.  Hehe.
(Doesn't Stockton's bike look awesome?  It is actually Molly's pink and purple bike with a couple coats of spray paint, new handlebars, and new wheels.  I'm sure we'll pass it along to Brynn as well.  Pretty good for a bike that was handed down to us in the first place!)

The parade was a family affair this year.

Stockton is still a little bit afraid of riding his bike on the street so I went with him.  I had to keep my hand on the handlebars the whole time.  Good thing the parade is short!

Justin went with Molly.  He rode his unicycle (undecorated) with Brynn in the stroller.  I was a little nervous about Molly riding her big bike with no training wheels and lots of other bikers around her.  But my worrying was for nothing-she did great!

We watched the parade.

We spent the morning at the park.  Bounce houses, games, lunch, snow cones, face painting.  A fun and exciting time!!
We spent the afternoon at my parents.  A nap for Brynn, swimming for everyone else.
Justin and Jeff made a huge tidal wave.  They emptied a fourth of the pool!
Brynn missed out on the swimming, but she had plenty of fun later.

These boys are so cute together.  With Gavin a year older and Grant a year younger, Stockton has some good playmates when we head to Plain City.  He has played with both of these boys really well this whole summer.  It is so fun to watch cousins start to become good friends!

Don't forget the sparklers!
Molly learned the hard way that the stick stays hot, even after the sparkles have stopped.  Ouch!

The very next day we headed to Palisade Lake, near Manti, for Justin's family camping trip.  We camped for two nights but the majority of our time was spent on the lake.  Eric brought a canoe.
And Brett brought a little blow-up raft.
There was a floating dock that we swam/canoed to.

And some of them re-discovered the mud pits (they camped there as kids and played in them then).

(Andrew and Stockton)

Molly had so much fun playing with Tiana and Lizzy. These three were pretty much inseparable.

There are lots of little boys around for Stockton to play with.  Digging in the dirt with Sam.

We even got him to take a nap in a port-a-crib when we were playing by the lake.  He slept there for a couple hours.
We had a pinata after lunch on Saturday.  Younger kids went first so everyone got a turn.

Since we were just minutes away from the Manti temple we decided to stop and show the kids before we headed home.  We weren't dressed temple-appropriate so we decided against walking around the grounds.  But we did play on the big grassy area where you sit to watch the pageant.
And we walked up the hill.  It's surprisingly steep but we made it!

Pretty good start for July, wouldn't you say?

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Stockton's 16th birthday

Stockton turned 16 on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. We've always told him he has the best day to have a birthday but I don't think he was convinced this year. He was anxious to turn 16 and get his license...it really felt like it took forever to get here. I told Justin that Stockton had to wait so much longer than Molly to get his license and he said, "actually, it took the exact same amount of time", which is factually true, it just felt a lot longer with Molly getting her license September of her sophomore year and Stockton not getting his until after sophomore year, before junior year. But, it did eventually arrive and we did our best to celebrate. We did the family celebration the Sunday before, since it was Girl's Camp that week and Justin, Molly, and Brynn would all be gone on his actual birthday. We had his requested dinner, meatballs, and he opened his presents. He got his favorite treats (nerd clusters, sour patch watermelon, and cow tails) and a new bat th...

all about Stockton

Stockton has loved having his license. He enjoys his independence immensely and does not take it for granted, probably because he had to wait for so long. He takes care of his truck, inside and out. He is always willing to run errands for me or take/pick up his sisters when I need him to. He tries to take back roads whenever he can-good thing you can get most anywhere in Heber on back roads.   This summer his love for cars has really amped up. He said he's always loved cars but he has just been noticing and talking about them more and more. He will point out a "cool car" whenever we are in the car and has a lot of knowledge about all the different features of the different cars. He has a dream car (can't remember which one) but also knows which color he would get in each of the different kinds of sports cars. He has slowly been buying sports car Lego sets with his birthday money, putting them together, and displaying them in his room. It's fun to see how excited h...
