the rest of the year

I wasted no time getting started with the room clean-outs. Ivy was first and we did her room the day after Christmas. Hers took the longest of all the kids-but it felt oh so good to get everything cleaned out! She filled a large garbage bag with garbage and another bag with stuff to donate.

All four of us girls had been dying to go see Wicked, which had been released at Thanksgiving-time. The schedule just never lined up with Molly's surgery, the girls working on Christmas trains, soccer, cheer, clogging, piano...all the things. We finally made it over the break.  It was a snowy day and I almost chickened out driving down the canyon but I'm glad I braved up because it was totally worth it. Molly loved it, I loved it, Ivy loved it, and I think Brynn loved it (but maybe not as much as the rest of us). I knew this about Molly and myself but I have a suspicion, after watching this movie, that Ivy might become a broadway musical nut as well. Yay, welcome to the club. The music has been on repeat at our house ever since.

Ivy started her legos the day after Christmas and finished on the 27th. The box said age 12+ but she had no problem getting it done on her own. It's a cute one-a botanical garden-and we loved the detail. You can also see in the background that we started our annual Harry Potter movie marathon (started the day after Christmas).

On the Monday after Christmas, we had our Moyes Christmas gift day.  The girls met at Hale Theater and were able to watch Beauty and the Beast there. Wow, wow, wow-this show was just incredible. We've been to lots of shows at Hale and they are all amazing but this was just next level. The talent, the costumes, the stage...really there are no words. I sat by Ivy because I wanted to see her reaction and it was the best.  Her eyes were huge just taking it all in. We went to eat at Red Robin after the play and had just the best time.

The boys were having their own fun at the Jazz game. Not many details to add beyond that but I know my guys always love any chance they have to watch the Jazz. Made even better to be there with cousins and uncles and grandpa. I think we all agree that we would rather do something like this than just get more "things" for Christmas.

Stockton got his room cleaned out next, on New Year's Eve. His closet was pretty clean because he just doesn't get toys these days. His drawers were over-flowing with clothes that don't fit so his donate bag was quite large. He also handed down a lot of hoodies and sweats to his little sisters for pajamas and camping clothes. His sports room is the coolest.

New Year's Eve-

This is what we had on our menu for NYE 2024:

-cheese curds (we made them in the air fryer)

-chips and queso

-taquitos

-wings

-orange chicken

-spaghetti (Ivy just won't let this tradition go)

We also had Shirley Temple's to drink and Ivy made cake pops!

I gave Justin a 1,000 piece puzzle for Christmas and we had all been working on it at night while we watched our HP movies. We were so close to finishing it so we did that before we started playing games.  Puzzling is a love I have discovered this year and this was a really fun one, one of my favorites! I'll be happy to pull this one out again.

Molly hosted her friends that night, something that she is doing more and more. We always want our kids to bring their friends to our house and feel comfortable doing that but Molly hasn't done that much-she doesn't like the pressure of being the host, which I totally understand. I think that pressure is just not there anymore, she is comfortable with her friends and they are low-key all around. I love her friends. They made waffles, did karaoke, and partied hard. We went upstairs to our bedroom for our games and movies but every time the door opened, we could hear their party and they were having so much fun. I loved it and was so happy to have them.

Stockton went with some friends to the youth dance. It's always a multi-stake dance with all the stakes in Heber and Midway with stakes rotating who is in charge. Midway did it this year so the dance was in Midway. He's not a big talker but he seemed to have a good time, although he said he didn't really talk to anyone new and he texted to say he was done at just after 11. So he was home to ring in the new year with the rest of us.

That left Brynn and Ivy home. After finishing the puzzle, we continued our party upstairs in our bedroom. We played games and continued our HP movies. They took turns choosing games and we played Life, Left Center Right, Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit, and Sushi Go.  We were all awake at midnight to watch the ball drop and run around for a few minutes. Happy New Year!

Brynn @ 18 months

Yes, you read that right.  Brynn is 18 months old!!  She is so fun to have around the house and I haven't done a post devoted just to her for a while, so I thought it was about time. -She loves books!  She was never really that interested until sometime in the past couple months and now she can't get enough.  Sacrament meeting went from impossible to we can make it through...as long as I pack enough books for her.  This is how I often find her at night or during nap time. -She also loves blankets and towels, although she is not particular about which blanket.  She just wants something soft. She wants to walk around all over with them wrapped around her...they don't stay very well and she gets frustrated.  For that reason, I try to keep her blankets out of sight during the day. They come out when it's time to sleep. -Like my other kids, she loves her warm milk!  Actually, she'll drink it cold too. -She is a quiet one, always has ...

Stockton's 16th birthday

Stockton turned 16 on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. We've always told him he has the best day to have a birthday but I don't think he was convinced this year. He was anxious to turn 16 and get his license...it really felt like it took forever to get here. I told Justin that Stockton had to wait so much longer than Molly to get his license and he said, "actually, it took the exact same amount of time", which is factually true, it just felt a lot longer with Molly getting her license September of her sophomore year and Stockton not getting his until after sophomore year, before junior year. But, it did eventually arrive and we did our best to celebrate. We did the family celebration the Sunday before, since it was Girl's Camp that week and Justin, Molly, and Brynn would all be gone on his actual birthday. We had his requested dinner, meatballs, and he opened his presents. He got his favorite treats (nerd clusters, sour patch watermelon, and cow tails) and a new bat th...

all about Stockton

Stockton has loved having his license. He enjoys his independence immensely and does not take it for granted, probably because he had to wait for so long. He takes care of his truck, inside and out. He is always willing to run errands for me or take/pick up his sisters when I need him to. He tries to take back roads whenever he can-good thing you can get most anywhere in Heber on back roads.   This summer his love for cars has really amped up. He said he's always loved cars but he has just been noticing and talking about them more and more. He will point out a "cool car" whenever we are in the car and has a lot of knowledge about all the different features of the different cars. He has a dream car (can't remember which one) but also knows which color he would get in each of the different kinds of sports cars. He has slowly been buying sports car Lego sets with his birthday money, putting them together, and displaying them in his room. It's fun to see how excited h...
