The Fourth of July was on Sunday this year, with Plain City celebrations held on Monday. It worked out perfectly for us, since Stockton's tournament was held the Friday and Saturday before so he didn't have to miss either his games or the day with cousins. (He missed the 4th last year and didn't want to miss again.)
We were able to go down earlier on Sunday and be there for Sunday dinner at the Walker's. They have even more of a farm than we do and and my girls couldn't get enough of their new puppy, Dottie.
Bryce took a group of kids on a night hike and then got them all up bright and early to do the 5K in the morning. Best uncle award that weekend went to him.
We were happy that everything was back to normal this year, starting with the bike parade. We had borrowed all the Broadbent's bikes-they were gone and we didn't have to haul all of ours down-so that was nice. We had quickly decorated them the night before. This is fun for me because I see so many people that I grew up with but only see once a year (on the 4th).

Then we headed up to the park for games. |
I forgot the family picture on my mom's cute front porch so had to get a quick one at the park.

Cotton candy the size of Ivy's face! She ate it so fast!

When everyone had had enough of all the games and eaten all the food and when the heat was almost unbearable, we went back to grandma and grandpa's and hit the pool. It was a pleasant afternoon cooling off. |

We had our bbq and then headed back to the park to watch Grandpa play softball. This is something they brought back from years and years and years ago and it was so fun. When I was growing up, they used to do a North-South softball game and an Old-Timers game. They combined the two and did a North-South Old-Timers game that consisted of men that have lived in Plain City their whole lives. We cheered hard for our Plain City team but Blossom ended up beating them in the end. Grandpa did great up to bat and covering second base.

When the game was over, we went back to grandma and grandpa's for sparklers and the firework show. It was late but our family headed home that night feeling content with our blessed life and memories made that day!
