First two days of February bring hoverboard pictures. The kids love the hoverboard and it is used every day. That picture of the girls might be one of my all-time favorites.

Stockton was way past due for a haircut! Justin is even his barber but it always gets way long before it gets cut.
Let's talk Superbowl. Justin has been a fan of the 49ers since he picked them as his team when he was 5 or 6 years old. He is not a fair-weather or bandwagon fan and, in fact, does not like people who are. He is true to his childhood teams and was excited to see his Niners make it the Superbowl this year. He told everyone that we would be staying home so he could cheer as loud as he wanted or grieve in private if needed. We've gone to Eric's a couple of times to watch the Superbowl but he initially told him that we would be staying home. However, after much persuasion and guilt-tripping from Eric, he agreed to go for the party. The game definitely had its highs and lows and ultimately ended poorly for Niner fans. It was a downer but Justin handled it like the mature adult that he is. Stockton was a little deflated too but they both got over it.

February 9th and we're out for a walk. I made everyone get out the of the house that Sunday afternoon and it was very pleasant. Spring was still a ways off but, that day, it felt like it might be getting closer. We also played basketball, Molly tried out the unicycle (unsuccessfully-she's too short), and rode bikes.
We bought a fake tree on clearance after Christmas so Justin thought that we should set it up to see if it will work in our living room. It's 15 feet tall! But we loved it. I am excited to have it next Christmas, even if I'm overwhelmed at the thought of decorating that much tree. We'll still have a real tree but we'll put it upstairs in the loft and let the kids decorate it.
Ivy put on a magic show for me and Stockton.
Brynn and Justin snuck in their date right before Valentine's Day-dinner at Mod Pizza and shopping for earrings at Claire's. Brynn came home with a couple of new pairs of earrings-one pair were clip-ons, an oversight of both of them, I guess. Ivy was happy to have a new pair of earrings and actually kept them on for long stretches at a time.
Valentine dates recap: Justin and Molly to the Jazz game, Mom and Molly to a BYU soccer game; Justin and Stockton golfing, Mom and Stockton snow-shoeing; Justin and Brynn dinner and shopping, Mom and Brynn to the movies; Justin and Ivy to McDonald's (no picture), Mom and Ivy to the duck pond and snow cones.
Ivy and I made a fort in her room one day. There was a hallway that led to a room-and that room was connected to the door of her castle tent. She wanted to sleep in it that night so I tucked her in and she fell fast asleep. Unfortunately, she didn't make it the whole night. She had been going through a scared stage and was getting up almost every night and finishing the night on our floor.
Valentine's Day-
Both Stockton and Brynn made their own boxes at home this year. I am so glad this is not a big production. Brynn and Ivy got heart hair and I'm pleased Brynn is not too old for this. Brynn wore heart pants and her sweater said "Love." Ivy wore red to preschool.
We picked the kids up a little early from school because we were road-tripping to St. George for a soccer tournament. I was a little bummed that we couldn't do a "fancy" Valentine's Day dinner. I gave the kids their cards in the car and had them draw their months for a mom date and a dad date. We had to drop Cash off in Sandy, got stuck in traffic, ate dinner in Spanish Fork (half got Culver's and half got Chick-Fil-A), and finally arrived at our VRBO in Hurricane at 10:00 that night. We were staying at a house that my mom had rented for her and my dad, us, and the Walker's who were down there since Tessa was playing as well.
Molly played twice on Saturday-they lost both games. We were able to catch the tail end of one of Tessa's games. We ate lunch at a Mexican restaurant. Justin and the kids found a hill to hike while we waited for one of Molly's games to start. We had dinner at the house that night and, since everyone was pretty tired, we had tubs, watched a movie, and went to bed.

Sunday was a beautiful, sunny day. We found a ward and went to sacrament meeting. We had a quick lunch and spent the afternoon outside. We tried to get into a state park in Hurricane but it was at capacity so we found a trail that was close. I thought it was pretty but we didn't stay long because the kids wanted to go into St. George and climb on the red rocks.

We spent a couple of hours climbing and exploring around the rocks. This is always a hit with the kids. We ended our time there with a funny story-Christopher went to use the bathroom and a little later texted Erin to say that he was stuck in the bathroom. We laughed about it in the beginning and kept laughing after it had been more than an hour and the fire department had to be called to get him out. They had to get out some heavy duty tools to finally break the lock and free him. It made a great story! We ended our play time at the Thunder Junction park. It felt so good to be outside that day!

Molly played an early game on Monday morning. They won that game but didn't advance to the finals. Molly made a beautiful assist. We were okay with being done-they got a win and we were able to start for home.

For Young Women's, Molly was able to go down to a bookstore in Provo and view lots of different artifacts from around the time of the Restoration. This is a picture of her with an original copy of the Book of Mormon.

Oh, how Ivy dislikes brushing her teeth. I make her let me brush once a day since I know she is not a very good brusher. She thought she was very funny to take these pictures while I was brushing.

I gave my phone to Ivy in the car so she could listen to music. When I got home, I found 129 selfies that she had taken. I saved all of them because they are so, so funny.

We went to the Jazz game with my parents and siblings. They lost but this is a tradition we always look forward to. Glad we got this date night in before all the NBA games were canceled.

Molly was baby-sitting and Ivy was not cooperating with bedtime. I got this picture sent to me at 9:57 pm-way past Ivy's bedtime. They got in some good sister bonding time while waiting for us to get home.
Ivy went through a fort-making stage and we did that almost every time we did an activity. We would build them in the loft and then leave them up for several days.
Molly's Young Women's group did a talent show at a nursing home. Their leader asked me to go and play the piano for the girls to sing in between talents so I got to go and watch Molly. She was funny-I suggested lots of talents that she could do (piano, display her art, ukulele) but she was too self-conscious to do anything I suggested and ended up doing a skit with Samantha Steiner.
Justin was given three tickets to the Jazz game to sit in the AFCU suite. He wanted to take Brynn since she has never been-and then was able to take Stockton as well! Stockton lent Brynn his older Donovan Mitchell jersey and he wore his newer one and they had a great time.
My birthday must be mentioned. 38 years old seems weird and unreal but it is what it is. I was able to go shopping and to lunch with my mom and Ivy, had pizza for dinner (no prep and no clean-up), and made myself a chocolate bundt cake that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a good day.
On the last Friday of February, Molly and I took a date to the temple. I wasn't planning on doing baptisms since we didn't have family names but at the Provo Temple, they let everyone do temple names so I got to do baptisms as well. It was the first time I had been since they changed the policy on witnesses so I got to be a witness while Molly was getting baptized and that was neat.
Brynn helped me put all the yellow back in the kitchen-candlesticks, wreath, flowers, pillow, etc. I take the bright colors down for fall and winter and love when they come back at the beginning of spring (in this case, February 29th).
