Molly and Stockton went back to school on August 23rd. We had been to back-to-school night the night before and they were both excited to head to school that first day. Molly is in 4th grade and the oldest in the school (5th grade goes to an intermediate school-they are building new schools so next year 5th will be back in the elementary.) Her teacher is Mrs. Davis. She was a little worried about her because she had heard that she was a "yeller" but came home that first day and said she was an awesome teacher. She has had a great few months with Mrs. Davis but Molly is the kind of kid that would do well under any teacher.
Stockton is in 2nd grade this year and has Mrs. Murdock. Her mother-in-law is in our ward and the Sunday before the first day she was in our congregation for a homecoming. Someone pointed her out to Stockton and he went over to her and met her. She gave him a big hug and I knew right then that she was going to be a great teacher and that Stockton would love her, which he does.
They always opt for riding the bus on the very first day. They have a system with Easton regarding who sits where on which days (they all share the same bus seat but switch around aisle, middle, and window).
Brynn started Kindergarten on September 1st. She was really excited! She wanted her hair curly so we put curlers in her hair the morning before and she left them in all day and night. She also picked to wear this cute dress that she wore for our family pictures. I think that she looked adorable and, I may be a little biased, but the cutest Kindergartner there was that day.
Brynn was assigned morning Kindergarten. At first I was disappointed because I was thinking how nice it would be to have her in afternoon when Ivy would take a nap. A few hours to myself was starting to look appealing! Also, I was worried about waking three kids up and having them off to school on time each morning. But I didn't switch her and I'm glad I didn't. I have really enjoyed having her go in the morning. It's not too hard to get the kids up and out the door (with some extra planning and preparation on my part) plus I really, really am happy to still have my afternoons with Brynn. We do our "plan" together, we work on her homework and then she can help me in the kitchen or relax and watch TV or whatever she wants until the other two get home.
Anyway, I drove her on the first day so I could show her to her classroom.
Her teacher this year is Mrs. Palmer. She wanted me to take a picture of her on the first day. Stockton had Mrs. Palmer for the last month of Kindergarten when we first moved here. Brynn has loved Kindergarten and enjoys every single day there. She is a good student too-Mrs. Palmer called me a couple weeks into the year to tell me how much she enjoys having Brynn in her class and what a good example she is to the other kids.
Probably one of my favorite parts of the day is when I drive down to the end of the street to get Brynn off the bus. She rides with Corbin and they are just so cute getting off the bus and running to their moms. It melts my heart every single day. They are good buddies too. Yesterday I went to pick them up and they said they "just want some time together" and walked home by themselves.
Brynn was excited to show me the fun things she had colored at school. A successful first day of Kindergarten!
Here's the first day that they all went at the same time. It was Brynn's second day and Molly and Stockton's ninth day.
Either Justin or I drive them down to the bus stop each morning. They all pile in the front seat like sardines.
Brynn was very ready to ride the bus with Molly and Stockton on the second day. She did great, not afraid at all. I was a little nervous that she would have trouble finding her class but having a big sister as a 4th grader meant that she made it just fine.
This is our last year at Old Mill Elementary. They are building a new school closer to us so the kids will be going there next year. It has been an awesome school with a principal I've been very impressed with so we will miss it but happy to be there for one last year!
